Look up Megasquirt.
Everything I have read about Megasquirt says it is only a fuel controller, and does not control ignition. Where did you hear differently?

I have been reading all of the Megasquirt publications that I can lately to see if it is a viable possibility in the future if HPT can't come through. It's fairly technical stuff, so I'm going pretty slow.

The original MS (mega squirt) had ignition control, but it was too hard for the end user to figure out. THey took it out when it went public. Now some people have made a sepereate version that handles it, but is not directly supported through MS, but still works and has a slightly steeper learning curve

I'll be one of the few buying one too. I've even got a little cash put a side every week. Soon as the turbo comes out and as soon as the warranty expires... it gets fitted!

3 or 4 grand sounds about right, turbo's aint cheap. I see myself being one of the SS/SC owners that goes full turbo when it comes out. I've always wanted a turbo. Then again, I'll have to deal with emissions testing, damn socialist bastards.

Yes... me want turbo... me want now, but me must wait.

Soon though, we shall have our turbos, then we will be able to fly! I "right now" want to get my LS to 250whp. Then we will have to see how long that lasts! HAHA

chevy claims you can take the 2.2L to 250hp w/ nitrous and turbo w/out having to upgrade the internals, i will be upgrading the internals when i have the money so i can take it to 400hp, that is where i will stop. after that ill be running to close to being illegal for the street.

I don't believe he said it WAS 500whp. I saw this last night, and I believe he said they were WORKING on a turbo kit and modifications that would MAKE 500whp.

hey halfcent, the last i was following up on your build you were waiting for ecm programing. i know somewhat about the work you put in your 2.2. my question is did yo? u install all the internals you were talking about? i was following up very closely, but i got deployed. because if you had them installed, how is the car running. im just curious how ready you have it for f/i.

My first engine lasted about 2 days. One of the Bates Engineering valve springs broke, dropped a valve, and chewed up the inside of my cylinder. 5 grand later, I once again had a working engine. This time I used Ferrea dual coil springs and a complete Ferrea valve train.

The car runs perfectly. I'm at reduced compression, so I have less horsepower then a stock car, but you wouldn't know it by driving it. I also have the 3000 RPM stall torque converter and LSD in the trans, and they are noticable. I have no trouble codes at all. The engine is now nicely broken in with well set seals. I'm switching to synthetic oil at my next change to get it used to that.

The new engine set me back financially. But there is still no ECM tuning available. HP Tuners is supposedly working on it.

Since when is race fuel not street legal? Its just more refined, and actually LESS flamable/explosive.

It's not street legal for two reasons that I know of. First of all, it isn't taxed for use on the street. Pump gas is properly taxes by local and state governments for use on the street. Second, while it is more stable, it in fact does not meet emission requirements. A stock car would not have a program for burning that high octane of a gas, and there would be issues. They are minor ones, but minor or not, they are still not legal.

I have a number of threads all over the place actually. This one is old, but it's pretty acurate. I have been driving the car since April.

Long story short he has to lower his compression ratio in order to be able to stand strong with a turbo kit installed. Lowering the compression without forced induction, robs power. He just got it ready so when the turbo kit w/fuel management comes out, all he has to do is install the kit, rather than doing all the internal work and installing the turbo at once...

hahn racecraft turbo systen

Hahn Racecraft has been developing a turbo system for all the cobalt platforms the ss is sickest of them all it is in addition to the s/c which is amazing cause it will cover all ranges of rpms although the one that i am interested in is the 2.2 ecotec

LS 2.2L: Our complete turbosystem for Chevy's outstanding new Cobalt will be available soon. As seen in the JIN Cobalt on the Tuner Transformation TV show, this system continues our strong history of development for the legendary Ecotec engine. Projected power output is in the 230 HP range for the intercooled Stage II system. The same system with engine internal and fuel upgrades will be capable of supporting up to 500 HP! ( that is directly from hahn racecraft )

Stainless Steel Shorty Header

Cobalt 3" Stainless Steel Exhaust

Cobalt Hi-Flow Downpipe/Catalytic Converter

StreetRace Sheetmetal Intake Manifolds

those are also some more parts that are offered by hahn racecraft i have had there turbo systems before on my 2001 neon and the gains a quality were absolutly amazing

as soon as this system hits the market i am proud to say that i will be one of the first to have it along with my already existing mods
