long tube header?

Finally got to the point where I can justify modding the balt, so first off I'm looking to upgrade the exhaust. Wondering if there's a long tube(4-2-1) anywhere on the market for us?

This is my initial plan(for whoever cares). I'm sticking with the s/c since it's just so easy to do on these cars.

-Tuning with aem fi/c(or preferrably something stronger when it comes to that)

-starting off with ss/sc supercharcher. Might go bigger with a twin screw or possibly a centrafugal setup down the road.

-Figure I'll start off with some 40 lb injectors since I have some for gm lying around. Might also look into putting a stronger fuel pump in as well. Anyone know what gpm our stock pump flows?

-I've got a mandrel bender and a welder so I'm going to make an exhaust 2 3/4" back from the collector. No emmissions/inspections here so I'm gonna leave the cat out for now and see if I can stand the sound.

-I also plan on getting springs, struts/shocks, traction bars, and I'm going to poly-fill the mounts.

My initial plan is to get the engine supercharged on low boost initially and when a stronger tuning solution becomes available where I can make changes to the rev limiter and trans settings I'm going to build the motor and throw a twin screw on it for more boost. If it takes too long I might just go with megasquirt.

well I'm not dropping 3k on this all at once. I'm buying parts progressively and it also helps to have the right equipment. Really except for the supercharger and tuning equipment, I'm not spending that much. But we'll see how it goes.

xm15: That actually looks pretty sweet. Guessing that's when you first installed it. still look like that? you have an idea of what kinda gains it gave you?

Thats pretty much what it looks like. (You know how dirty it can get under the hood lol) That shot is actually a day or so after the install and right after a few dyno pulls. It got that nice stainless/bronzed look (seen in the pic) from the heat which I really like. I can't say exactly what the gains were, but with the intake and full exhaust, I put down the numbers in my sig. If you eventually plan on going f/i, this setup should be pretty good because the collector is pretty big.

if you look at it... it IS a 4-2-1 header. Not a very long one... but is nonetheless.

Personally I'd rather have something with longer runners, but considering what's out...

I'm hoping I can get the collector at 2 3/4". I guess I could just go with 3" if they don't have what I want, I'll probably end up going around that size later on when I start upping the power anyway.

ZZPerformance has a mid length header which I believe is 4-2-1 and each primary is about 14 inches long. They are a supporting vendor as well.

the weapon r looks like it would actually flow better. But I can't see it being worth the extra $100. I just wish they'd tell you what size collectors are available... or can they make any size? Wow. Screw the vibrant, not paying $800 for a 4cyl header

TTR has the Vibrant header for $620. Thats a little more palatable than $800.

The vibrant header is very nice. Its a true 4-2-1. As long as you dont have the air injection system it will fit fine.
