LSJ Downpipe Installed on 2.2

Well I just got done installing my new LSJ DP on my 2.2. Currently I have the racing solution shorty 4-1 header and a Corsa sport cat-back. The LSJ DP was a really good way to finish off the exhaust! I felt a difference as soon as I pulled out of my driveway. And the car really pulls quite a bit harder from 5000-6500 RPM.

Check out the difference..

This is a very cheep solution for any 2.2/2.4 owner that needs a downpipe.

Keep in mind that this is only a direct bolt on for G5/Cobalts with MANUAL transmissions. the motor sits a bit different with the automatic transmission.

Yep I have the racing solution 4-1 shorty header for the 2.2 - LSJ DP - Corsa sport cat-back.
I have noticed a big improvement from stock! the biggest jump was from the header! Its amazing what it did for my top end..

I'll get one. All I have is a shitty camera though. So it won't be the greatest quality. and I'm sure it won't so it any justice.. but it sounds mean!

i did header, then dp then exhaust, i think the best gain was from the dp. the header made a good differance, but i think the dp made the biggest gain. hohonestly the cat back just made it louder, i really didn't notice much of a gain, then againe i swapped cat backs in the middle of a 2 week rain period so it ook awhile before i could beat on it after so i don.t have a sameday comperison.

Well my ecu is still learning the new flow so I'm sure it will get a little better. Once I get the 2.4 intake manifold I'll get a tune. Then I should see a good gain!

You're the only person I've heard mention the issue with the auto and LSJ DP...if there's any truth to it not fitting, then I'll have to look into the ZZP mid lenght setup again, but can anyone else say for sure that it will fit with an auto?

I would assume so, but please tell me it will.

I don't want the Cobalt to wind like my old Saturn SC1 where they made a CAI, but the catch was it only worked with manual trans, auto were stuck with SRI unless they custom made one because of the tranny filter.

That 2.2 DP is much more restrictive than I thought!

The LSJ DP is definitely on my to do list.

Here is another unfair comparison.

Stock 2.2 dp VS ZZP 3" cat'd dp with 2.5" flange.

No issues at all? I have found on both 2.4s and 2.2s with autos the LSJ didn't just bolt in...what cat-back do you have?

the LSJDP is shorter and the cat sits on the sway bar without some adjustments.

Can you post some pics of your install?

Check out my thread, and I have run into this on an another 2.2 auto equipped LS:

I have a 2006 2.2 auto (with SAI). I had the LSJ cat back then I installed the LSJ DP over a year ago. On my car the LSJ DP is a tight fit but its in there without any rubbing. I will soon (within the next few weeks) be installing an LSJ exhaust manifold. When I get under there to do the manifold I'll definetly get some pics for you.
