More HP Gain from Short Ram or CAI Intake???
Jsut bought an intake that can be used as a short ram or CAI which one would produce better hp gains??

Cold air intakes tend to make a bit more power, because they route the filter out of the hot engine bay into cooler/denser air. Cooler air has more oxygen, and will produce better performance.
Run the cold air setup in the summer, & short ram in the winter.

When I had my 2.4L, the car felt like it had a tad bit better throttle response and more low end power with the short ram. With the full CAI on it felt like it pulled a little better in 2nd and 3rd gear then the short ram did.
Just my experience with them. I run a short ram in my Cobra because the more bends you have in the piping the harder it is for the motor to pull in that air.

For what it is worth, with the car moving from about 10mph to around 60 there is about a 10 degree difference in temp between ambient air and intake air. From 65 on up there is a 7 degree difference. I have a K&N short ram, and this was logged using a dashawk. The intake temps do skyrocket if you are sitting in traffic or with your car on. They don't seem to go over 160 while sitting in traffic, and they do go back down fairly quickly after you start moving.

whether i wanna believe this or not (cuz i have an injen too).. my good friend that had a full bolted and trifecta tuned N/A balt told me this "i cant run CAI on my injen because i throw lean codes with it, i think some people may be running the injen in CAI may be lean and not even know it"... that would explain the better mpg but it makes me curious if he is right after seeing those dyno charts... idk... this is thought provoking

Something that may cause a difference is the lenght of the pipe between cai and sai. The longer the tube, the quicker it reaches peak flow, which would give you more power lower in the powerband. The shorter pipe of the sri should give better gains in the upper powerband because it would reach peak flow later. That being said, the difference between either is not going to be that much.
