ok....so basically, the idler on the LSJ is in the same spot as the tensioner onthe L61. thats why i was conbfused. i thought both were idlers.

does someone make all those pulleys aftermarket for the LSJ I could use, like lightweight versions?

Thats probably what I'll try so I dont have to alter the belt

and I think I might go with the 8.9:1 pistons, and use a 2.5" pulley, or even plane the heads like 20 - 50 thousands to up compression. Has anyone ever tried to shave the head on an ecotec?

OK I found MRZ's crank pulley and alternator pulley for the LSJ, they have a semi-generic alternator pulley that comes in 6 rib

now to find the others

I thought shaving the piston head would only decrease compression?

Anyways, you can get pistons custom built for your application in 10.0:1. I believe wiseco can do that for you.

I dont know anyone who's done it(probably a reason) but Ill go out on a limb and say you can not shave an ECO head by .050"

Also shaving the head to increase compression is silly, youd just be weakening the head, and youd actualy most likely spend just as much on off the shelf pistons and head work as you would on custom pistons.....I am pretty sure JE does custom pistons for the ECO for like $80/ea, or $120/ea with full rings/pins kit.

We shaved it 1.4mm (.055"), it works perfectly but I won't do it for boosted apps.

Starting with 8.9 pistons, you can use SiValves valves (less dished), add 0.5 of CR, you're already almost at 9.5, play with head gasket thickness (like the cometic LSJ .027" one) and you may gain a bit again (although I still cannot get a confimation of the OE hg thickness when compressed)

ok, I'll probably just have to get custom pistons for my application. No big deal, so I have a better parts list with what pulleys I need now and things of that nature. I'll look into diamond or wiseco for custom pistons

ok well I guess shaving the head will be more trouble than its worth.

I was planning or possibly planning on using the LSJ oil pan as it holds more oil. Would this be worth it? and will the stock oil pick-up be fine?

I honestly have no clue what you mean by "Shave" and "Plane". In my machine shop we Surface heads and blocks but only for warpage or 0.000 deck clearance. I do not know what oem Deck clearance is on our engines but I definately wouldnt do it more than .025 for head/block. Most modern 4bangers come stock with .010 deck clearance or less.

Update

I just gathered all my suspension parts over the last month.

eibach sportlines

FE5 shocks/struts

TTR rear sway

MRZ strut bar

FE5 front sway bar

HELLZ yea, I am not putting it all on until I get wheels. I got good deals on all of this, managed to find most of it used, but barely used thanks to CSS.net members

these are the wheels I will probably get, one or the other....

pretty sure he said 2.8, or 2.7 at the absolute smallest. Meth wouldn't hurt, especially because nearly everyone running under 2.8 has it, with the stock LSJ compression, so any higher and it would be almost necessary

edit: 07metallicSC, saw the post about 8.9:1 and the 2.5 ignore me.

I am going to try my hand with just dual pass and ZZP h/e or CX racing h/e and a 2.8 pully.

I will buy a modular pulley system and slowly work down to the 2.8, but no lower than the 2.8 probably.

I'll see as the time comes. I have already ported the outlets of the intake manifold a little bit with a dremel at work, came out pretty good. I am doing some work to the supercharger on monday when I have overnight duty.

OH and thanks JN2

With this build you should be going with a TVS and a 2.9 pulley. Dont sell yourself short with a M62!!!

Youre better of just switching to turbo if you decide you need a 1320......

yea I'm going for a little bit of a budget build. M62 = cheapest FI

and I want to see what I can do with the M62, after porting it and replacing the bearings, I want to see how it will perform (ceramic bearings, suppose to produce a little less heat/parasitic loss)

the M62 will work for me

and yea, if I was going to drop a larger amount of money on the FI portion, it would be a big fat turbo with a lot of boost and lower compression, but thats not the direction I am going with this build

Always have to look, for most part they are pretty competitive, some product they are expensive, sometimes they have really good deals.Ive bought lots of tires from them, I almost always get them next day even when I select ground because they have a warehouse in Delaware.

and I just found their "view on vehicle" feature when you're looking at wheels, pretty freakin cool.

I even found another set I like that are even lighter and cost the same
