thats gonna be hard to do on an ls. it should sound pretty throaty with an intake only, but any exhaust on that car will sound like rice IMO

Best bet would be to get a decent sized header/dp combo and leave the stock cat-back exhaust. That's as throaty as you're gonna get. ^ The intake will help w/ this combo...

Go with the GM Performance Touring exhaust. It's got a mellow tone, but isn't as loud as a performance exhaust.
Stay away from anything over 2.25 inches. Or it will sound like a weedeater in a tunnel.

I have a 2.25" catback exhaust with Magnaflow muffler, and I love the sound. I hate the sound of Honda ricers, and I'm quite impressed with the Magnaflow. Also have intake and a header. The sound is really nice, and I get compliments often. Go to youtube and search "2.2 exhaust" and listen to different options.

Its impossible to get the v8 sound out of the balt. The best exhaust I heard was with a zzp downpipe and header and just a magnaflow muffler. It actually sounded good.

Bigger the exhaust the more rice it sounds unless you have the more cylinders to fill it

I agree with the 2.25" catback with magnaflow. A guy around here has an '06 balt with that same setup and it sounds great with hardly any noise in the cab. I'm going to put that setup on my G5 as soon as I get the cash.

I have the GM Sport Exhaust. Not ricey at all, a nice low-toned rumble. (though I wish it was a little louder at idle)

Go to crateenginedepot.com they have sound clips for the Touring and Sport exhausts from GM.

go to magnaflow.com and listen to the sound clip of the cobalt setup. they installed it on an ss so dont expect the same exact tone or loudness. its what i did for my 2.2 and i sounds pretty deep for a 4 cylinder.
