need some added horses

alright guys I came from an '01 Dakota R/T (hence the name) and i'm used to the 250 RWHP.. I'm not liking the fact that when I'm going 60 and I push down the gas in my cobalt I go nowhere, so I need some horses asap. Where do I even start??? I was looking at possible engine swaps for a 2.0 out of an SS.. is that pointless??

If you need real power, get a different car. Engine swap is TOTALLY pointless. Might as well just get a new car for the price. If you get the M62 supercharger kit, full bolt ons and a tune, you'll do alright, but nothing too special.

from what i've read its much easier and cheaper to get a ss/sc or ss/tc from the get go.

250 rwhp in a dakota? what was done to it? i can't imagine the cobalt is THAT much slower than a dakota, even with a 360.

that was bone stock. the r/t came with 5.9 liter motor factory with 250 horses rear wheel drive. guaranteed that thing would smoke the cobalt i have now. that's why it's such a big difference behind the wheel for me now

oh my bad dude worded it wrong. either way it was a big difference, in this car its like i hit the pedal to the ground and it doesn't do anything. i just need some type of added power so it feels like i'm actually moving

your only real choices in terms of a cobalt are boost it, and boost it a lot, get an SS model, or get another car

ya i have a 2.2 i planned to boost and do the full bolt ons but either way our engines arnt made to handle must a 2.0 will be ur best bet so pretty much u got the wrong car. even if u boost it you cant have that much cause the engine cant handle it. sure itll be fast but ull still be getting beat but i think im just going to do some bolt ons and end it. no use in boostin it and still not even coming close

zzp is great. but first if your going to super or turbo charge it done worry about an intake, the intake position is different and usually come with the kit if you go that route

then I'd say throw a turbo on it, up the boost, build the internals so you don't blow it up, then you should be happy OR just get a new car

and i was considering getting another car, but i have a loan out with a bank and the hassel of selling this car and going through the process of buying another car imo wouldn't be worth it. pretty sure i paid ridic amount for this car and i shouldn't have so theres no way im making that money back

then buy a new cylinder head for your car, buy turbo cams, get it pnp'd new valves and springs, then buy zzp's stage 2 turbo kit, find a dyno somewhere and tune on the dyno with trifecta (unless you have the 07+ that can be tuned by HP) dont forget trans and motor mounts to deliver all the power to the tires

Did you try pushing in the clutch and down shifting before you hit the gas when you were on the highway. If not thats a big part of your problem.
