yes k&N make a drop-in filter, i have one here at my house just lying around i dont use...as for part # im to lazy to go check, but i special ordered mine thu autozone, and yes the snesor need to be there, i accidently raced 4 times w/out the sensor there, and it will stall a bit at first when you WOT it, than it will go on as usual...and you will throw a CEL after a couple miles...b/c mine didnt throw a code after all those races, but im prety sure eventually it will
