new brake shoes. problem

so i got new brake shoes. and my drums resurfaced. got my car after it was done and now i have to push my brake pedal pretty far just to stop.
i called the shop right after i noticed this and he said it was normal and i have to break them in and he said to drive it over the weekend and let him know on monday. if it wasnt better he could hand adjust it because they did an initial adjustment when they replaced them.

is this normal? because its like i have to press the brake pedal really far for the brakes to engage.

anyone who can help i appreciate it

you do need to bed in the brakes, but if you're having to go all the way to the floor then they probably didnt adjust them tight enough. it should be safe to drive, but they will only bed so much.

Bed them in. see how it feels. if it still feels funky go back to the shop.

follow the video instructions 6-10 45mph - 5mph medium braking then 3-4 45-5 hard braking. dont start out with hard braking or ull get uneven placement on the rotors.

We have self adjusters. Pull the ebrake up slowly a couple times. Should be good

got it adjusted its better than when i went there. the guy said the pedal was higher before because my shoes were 95% gone and thats why i got a squeek whenever i pressed the brake. so it should be fine and i have to adjust to it because the shoes are brand new.

lol thats the **** you have to deal with when you have a crappy mechanic probably didnt even road test it after cause he should have noticed shitty pedal, your brakes would have felt like that for a bit if you had your front brakes were done but not your rears

so than the pedal should be stiff im wondering if theres still a problem because he said you dont bleed the brakes if your doing the shoes. you only bleed them if you take off the wheel cylinder.

to bed in pads i do 6-7 from 35-5mph fairly hard braking... then 5 50-5 then i do 70-5 untill i smell pad, i think it was 3 from 70 in my mustang with Hawk HPS with 13" cobra brakes... i was trying to keep heat in everything so i made full use of my drag radials to get back up to 70 lol

yea i did that yesterday.
im going soon to get a 2nd opinion bc maby the pedals fine. it was just alot stiffer wheni had the old shoes.
if the 2nd opinion says that there fine than its fine and itll adjust and the new shoes will break in
