lol @ the "i didnt want my dad to know."

You're in high school aren't you. I remember being under the same impression when I was in H.S. I used to hide all my mods from my dad I eventually gave up. Sure they get pissed at first but after a day or two they won't care. Now i'm in college and I mod my car all the time and my parents can careless. Actually are kind of interested in it. Was fun explaining to my dad what the Ingalls does. "It's so I don't get any wheel hop during hard launches."

HOLY ****... so i'm not the only one who's parents bash them so badly about how ridiculous and frivilous they think spending money on mods is that they drive them to hide their mods from them???!@!...lol.

I order stuff and then don't say anything about the mod till it gets there. My parents and g/f are like... "what's that"? "when did you orderthat!!"...lol. And even then I'll try and make up (when applicable) some reason it is a "necessary" mod and will improve the longevity of my car...haha.

Examples:

Ingalls TD: I told them our cars are notorious for wheelhop (true) and this will save my engine from having an accidental break (eh... a little true).
Real reason: I wanted to reduce wheel hop for faster 60'.

Summer wheels: I told my parents i needed to because i was trying to save myself in the long run by buying winter tires for the stock rims and summer tires mounted on different rims. This way I could switch them out myself annually.
Real reason: I wanted nasty grip in the summer around turns and off the line, plus she's gotta be looking hot for the summer.

my parents can't say **** about me "wasting money" on mods.

my dad spend his entire youth building drag cars (some really sick ones...invested over 55k (that's what it woulda been by todays terms, anyhow...forget what he said actual $ invested was) in his 57 chevy...

and my mom is addicted to ebay and QVC, buys all sorts of needless **** that usually never even makes it out of the wrapper.

plus I'm always 3-4 months ahead on my bills...and I make more than my mom, so really...what right do they have to complain?

that, and im 23 working on my 2nd associates (going to eventually go on to BA) at CC so they don't really give a **** what I do with my car, as long as I don't kill myself with it all (and if I do...what are they gonna do, yell at me? lol)

Im out of high school and in college now and my mother still goes into my bank account and checks what I buy! I cant stand it, im moving out this summer. I still manage to hide every little thing I can, such as my cold air, stage 2, mounts, subs, and they eventually found out about my wheels when I put them on lol. When they find stuff I give them excuses like everyone stated above lol.

lol, i once told her I wanted us to be on an equal income so I'm spending money to compinsate for the fact I make more and she got livid.

1st Rule to Modding... Be Moved out of your parents house. Unless they don't care and will let you use garage space .

I pay $740 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment with a 20' x 20' garage (unattached) and only make like $11/hr and still find money to mod my car
