I've been modding my cars for a while, and my dad still doesn't understand why lol...he thinks modding is a waste, and says i can't just have a car that comes from the factory as is, and well he's right haha

Lol... everytime I go home my mom asks me what I have done and tells me that everytime she sees a stock cobalt that she thinks of me and also that she thinks that they could be so much better looking with just a little bit of work.
When I also explained how my handling mods saved me from totalling my car.... she was sold that they were good investments.

HOLY ****... so i'm not the only one who's parents bash them so badly about how ridiculous and frivilous they think spending money on mods is that they drive them to hide their mods from them???!@!...lol.
I order stuff and then don't say anything about the mod till it gets there. My parents and g/f are like... "what's that"? "when did you orderthat!!"...lol. And even then I'll try and make up (when applicable) some reason it is a "necessary" mod and will improve the longevity of my car...haha.
Examples:
Ingalls TD: I told them our cars are notorious for wheelhop (true) and this will save my engine from having an accidental break (eh... a little true).
Real reason: I wanted to reduce wheel hop for faster 60'.
Summer wheels: I told my parents i needed to because i was trying to save myself in the long run by buying winter tires for the stock rims and summer tires mounted on different rims. This way I could switch them out myself annually.
Real reason: I wanted nasty grip in the summer around turns and off the line, plus she's gotta be looking hot for the summer.

The best was when I got the k&n intake. I sent it to my school address so my dad wouldn't kick my ass. The rough part though, was installing it. I did it at school in the parking lot, using the jack in the car. We have a lift at home... I never used a jack in a car, ever. Boy that was interesting...

Otherwise he's gunna have to take the other two studs loose. The control arms loose, the strut asymbly removed. The strut mount and top hat off to replace the stud and then re-install it all and then in for an allignment.

the old adage applies here: tight's tight, too tight's broke.
you must've gorilla'd that sumbitch on there. no problem, see if there's clearance to knock that stud out, maybe compress the spring a bit while still installed on the car, and replace the stud with a same-size bolt.
i hope this i motivation to go and buy a good torque wrench

Not a Sebring
I got like $100 for my graduation. Then I couldnt afford to go to college. Went to communtiy college for like a year and a half........thats about it.
Go me. Poor parents FTL
lol
But yeah, my rents didnt care about my hobby. Hell, my dad even helped me fab up seat brackets for the racing seats I had in it. I was always getting a big ass box from UPS like every week.....always had parts pouring in for my RX-7. I worked full time in highschool at Subway making $9.25 an hour..........and at the time all I paid was car insurance and my cell phone (well after I paid for the RX-7). Kinda miss that car.

man i'm not sure how much force those studs actually get from the car going through turns. The torque spec is only like 10 or 12 ftlbs. just weld or JB Weld it back on. don't screw with having to get new alignment and all that for a stud.
Rig it to work put the flshy cap on and call it a day. too much work.
I had the same thing happen to me this weekend on my manifold studs.
Screw GM for making week studs and not having any in stock ever.
