Yeah, best of luck to everybody. We can all agree that whoever gets picked will help all 2.2's in the long run. I hope they pick one of us w/ SAI, just because we need parts that will satisfy our performance needs without the removal of a big element in the car.

NOTE: OrngBalt, I followed someones guide on how to remove the SAI. I took all the information to my dealer (they all know me there and I'm friends with pretty much everyone there) they told me any modification to the SAI is illegal. So technically the dealerships that were listed on the official SAI removal places, can get in trouble with the law because they are messing with emissions. Even though I don't see how removing a pump is illegal, oh well.

THATS WHY WE NEED HEADERS, DP, etc FOR SAI!!

it is illegal. It's like removing the egr. The thing is no one enforces it. As long as you don't throw a code from removing it you're good to go.

So let me get this straight. If I remove the SAI (technically w/ flash) and then physically, would my car still pass emissions?

depends on the emmisions place. Technically no. You shouldn't pass emmissions. But most don't know if it's supposed to be there or not. As long as you don't throw a code they won't know. But then I don't know how removing the sai would affect the sniffer either.

Personally I feel some yes/no questions can't give you the scope needed to find someone to test and document a new aftermarket product. Gathering this is likely to test a performance part you'll want someone to test it that not only tests but also understands what it is that their testing. For this reason I'm expressing interest in testing whatever it is because I have automotive and mechanical experience as well as a scientific and research background. I have access to a machine shop, industrial mechanic and domestic mechanics shop. Our privately owned shop specializes in vehcile restoration as well as fabrication.

We work with:
-antiques
-muscle
-domestics
-imports

Our shop is locally recognized as one of the best in Nova Scotia for vehicle restoration and we have had a long time love/hate relationship with domestics including all GM Products.I've been a J-Body driver for 7 years and have tested previous performance parts for GM cars.

Let me test it plz!!!!!

I drive a 2.2L because I restored it from the bone yard with my bare hands (and an array of tools):

probably. The only thing they really have to r+d is a tuner/flash for the tcm though.

The further this goes on the more I want to get a job as a tech at gm just to have access to the software

i doubt it is...theyre looking for an 06-07 auto...which have 2 different ECMs, and a turbo kit for the 06 would run on an 05, so they would ask for any auto 2.2's if it was a turbo kit....if you really want to try and guess...start thinking of things that auto 2.2's have in the 06 and 07 models that the 05 models dont have

Is there anything on the 06/07 that wasnt on the 05? The 'major' changes all came in 07.

Can we please stop speculation? They already said they weren't going to tell you what it was about. So let's not start rumours.

well if I was developing some kind of kit for the 2.2 autos... I wouldn't half ass it and just make it available for 05-06s or just for 07+, I'd want to be able to market to all of them. they probably want 06/07 models for testing because that's what the majority drives.

true it's all just speculation, but I'm just as curious as anyone else and can't help but let my imagination wander

it's cool. I respect anyone that pioneers new parts for our cars, vendor or not. God knows we need all the aftermarket support we can get.
