To follow up on my earlier post, i drove both highway and in town today. Cruised 80mph on the highway and the temp varied 192-194. Cruised 30-45mph in town and it varied 189-190. I opened the throttle on a straight and the temp jumped to 196-200. As for Idling it was a constant 192. For a start temp it is usually around 115-120. Weather wise it was mostly sunny with temps in the mid 90's, normal Texas weather. Also i don't run with that plastic engine cover on so thats a factor. To me, i would really be concerned if my cars temp was 215+ its just not the norm in my case.

I live in blistering AZ. And with the engine cover on my temps were as high as 219*, but now I don't see that ever. If I am hammering on the freeway say 85mph, and then get off and come to a stop, my temp will go to about 207-212, depending on if it is 112 or 119* out that day.

As for the starting temp. When I start my engine and immediately look at my coolant temp, it is already 105-110. I don't wait do drive(unless it is winter, then I'll wait maybe 1 minute). What I do wait for is 160's before I go over 3000 RPMS. That's to make sure everything has good oil flow at that time.

This thread had me curious so I had the driver information on the temp and ran around a 201 to 205 throughout the day I did remove the engine cover so i am assuming that helps...

ok i have an answer!!!(it's a first for me to answer anything about a car) i asked the service manager at Chevy and they said the cobalts run a little hotter than normal cars for a better fuel burning or some crap like that . so cobalts run a little hotter than most cars.

I love how the 2.0s are posting in here completely ignoring the original posters question.

It's pretty obvious by now that 2.0s run significantly cooler than 2.2s...

Info is info man. people are just trying to help

I run about 178-183 driving.
throw your A/C on if your worried about the temps getting up to high.
that should easily keep your temps <200
