noticeable diff. with maintenance
so i was having probs with a little high temps. so i have a realy good friend that works at the dealership and did some work for me. i got my fuel pump changed, freon for my a/c (apparently i had a leak...its fixed and i have to keep the air down because it gets so cold), warped rotors machined (wasn't to bad but did it anyway) and new pads. those are done already and what a huge diff. my gas mileage is at a steady 21.8mpg or more and my temps are not going above 192ish unless i've been idling for a while. i'm also getting my radiator flushed and back shoes replaced aswell. shoudl be nice little tune up for the car.
what is a good coolant fluid to use thats not mixed already? i'm going to try the 70/30 water/coolant mix with water wetter and see how that turns out. also does any one know where to get the rear shoes cheap? they have to ordered he said. so maybe i can get them cheaper somewhere.
no thoughts. damn.

Dexcool is what we go with stock. I say stick with that.
As far as shoes goes it's not too important. I'd just go with some lifetime warranty autozone stuff. Shoes don't really do alot of braking so it's pretty much just whatever you can get cheap.
also 21.8mpg sux ass man. look into that. I'd say average is around 26-31.

yea the my LS gets bad mileage as well, im not racing the car just keeping up with the flow of traffic, shifting at about 3-4k in 1st then quickly making my way to 5th. i drive all city and barely make 21 mpg, my problem is my mpg plummets when im idleing at a light, i think the calculator is wrong. highway ill get 35+ its funny because i beat the snot out of my vette with over twice the power and get 16-18 mpg each fillup

I get the same numbers on my 2.0.....Gotta love freeing up that air hehehe, but to the O.P......IF you want some good brakes(which is what I assume you are taking about), check out ebc(www.ebc.cm), or Hawk Brake Pads.

high priced shoes are a waste IMO. The rear shoes just don't see that much action
the mpg problem is more location related than anything. denser air is going to make your car use more fuel than average... so those closer to sea level are going to use more fuel. Going through alotta traffic will make it go way down b/c of all the idling. Whatever the case if you don't go through alot of traffic then I'd look into possible problems. Make sure you have all the latest reflashes from your dealer. There's NO traffic where I live. I might stop for 4 lights total on my 10 mile trip to and from work.

yea the humidity in fl is going to kill your mpg. When I moved from az to al I lost like 3 average mpg... but I'm still 29 or above... when's the last time you changed your air filter?
As far as shoes go I'd just go with some regular duralast from autozone. Probly cost you 15 bux for both sides togeather and you get a lifetime warranty.

Get a decent set of shoes, shoes are what give you the feel in your brake pedal. If you get a crappy set you will always have a crappy feeling in the pedal. Its not like Thermoquiet or Bendix shoes cost that much. There was also an issue years ago with neons where if you put the second line shoes on them they would overheat and lock up the rear wheels and spin the car. For the probably $15 extra your going to spend, get a decent set, you don't need hawk or anything, but at least brand name GM, Bendix, Wagner, or Raybestos.
And Yes I'm wearing my nomex if someone disagrees. :P

it did here too before they paved it. Before I moved to phoenix for school I-20 was so rippley(is that a word?) that you wouldn't be able to tell driving with a flat tire from regular driving.

I hope everyone that says they are getting 21 or so or close to 40 is checking it and not going by the computer. They are not always acurate. There has been times where it was within a .2 of a mile per gallon and sometimes where it is off by 7mpg.

Yeah I live in Las Vegas, I pulled off that crazy POS thats in the fenderwell so it sucks straight into the airbox, and it was getting 25city and 31 or 32 on on the freeway with the K&N. Now I ran some tubing from the airbox down into the fenderwell and attached my spectre air filter in it, I get usually 27 in the city and 36+ on the freeway. I just reset my computer till it finds a steady measurement for the MPG. If you really want to save gas you can run it between 1.5K and 2K or 2K and 2.5K, you might look like an old granny, but it'll be cheaper on the wallet.
Edit:By the way, I am building my Spectre intake using the segments, I'll let u guys know how it turns out.

the computer is very innacurate, i shift at 2-2.5k wih 1/3 throttle and am in5th by 30, i have alot of stop and go (20 minutes to cover 4 miles) but 20mpg is ridiculous
