Pacesetter Polished Armor Coat Header

As you know I bought a exhaust, the corsa -cat back. I was advised that I might want to get a header. I had alot of, lets say constructive critisim on the pace setter exhaust so I didn't go with it.

Should I change to this header and what else is involved, anything else to get as well?

You helped me out before, can you do it again?? thanks

Pacesetter isn't known for building the most high quality parts. I've heard they have a lot of problems with their exhaust stuff falling apart due to poor qaulity metals.

Yea, I heard that aot. I've read that the header is pretty good though. Also, I didn't see another header for the 2.2

biohazard owns one and hasn't had any problems with it. i haven't heard it yet myself but he said its a little louder, always a plus in my book. its inexpensive for what it is and if it really does "fall apart" it wont be for some time. its not gonna just degrade on you in a month a year or a couple of years for that matter.

i've got the header...if you're going to install it yourself much sure you have something to cut the stock downpipe with BEFORE you install the header. then when u do drive to the nearest exhaust shop and get it welded up.

i'm not all that happy with the sound of my car after the header install...it added a little odd noise in the lower rpms.

Gains were about that of an intake...

I really hate how people say pacesetter products are low quality.

Yes, they will rust eventually, as will all aluminized steel. The only way you won't get rust is if you get stainless steel. Pacesetter makes their products affordable which people mistake for being "cheap" quality. I have installed quite a few pacesetter products and they have always had perfect fitment.

As a matter of fact, I had a pacesetter dual exhaust on my old cougar. I bought the exhaust 3 1/2 years ago. I sold that exhaust to my friend and it is still on his car without any rust holes at all.

If he gets the header coated, he shouldn't have any problems.

something some people dont understand , any header will make a change in sounds

the tubing is thin in compairson with the stock exhaust manifold , and some noises will be present at the front of the car since that is where the header is

if you think the noise you has isnt 1 you should have , get with adam(he has a blue 05 redline) , or me , and we can listen to it for you

I understand that part now...as another Ion owner who has one has experienced the same sound.

However it sounds like a leak to me + air rushing through the manifold. It sounds like little small particles bouncing around against the tubing and it doesn't sound that great although it goes away in the higher rpms.

ive heard some people say they can hear the air rushing through

have you heard adams redline with the header ?

as far as leaks go , did you get the coated header ? or the painted ?

on a coated header leaks are easier to see , the leaks show up as black trails , also did you use the stock gasket or the 1 supplied with the header ?

yeah I hear the air rushing through...maybe thats all it is but I think the car sounded better before the header. I guess I was expecting it to be loud like a race header but it didn't change the noise level much. Just some extra noise added...

i haven't heard adams header yet but he did say it sounded pretty good on the rlforums

I got the armor coated header and I'm using the stock gasket because I heard the one they supply is crappy. I haven't inspected the header closely but theres no black trails that I can see from the engine bay.
