Parts dream list

I would like to get some honest answers here please.

Here is a list of parts that i'm looking at adding to my engine. All of which can be found at turbotechracing.com

comp cams stage 1 till computer tuning is available then i move onto the stage 2 or 3 cams

ferra 1mm over sized valves

ferra dual valve springs w/ titanium retainers

10.1:1 compression wiesco pistons

and the last thing will be GMPP

CNC 2.2L ported head, which ill take to get polished and the valve guides over sized 1mm for the ferra valves.

What kinda HP do you think this would put out.

Not as much hp as u would think, you will prolly put down no more than someone who left the engine stock.

Sorry to burst your bubble but with those lower compression pistons you're prolly still only make stock power.

well i think im still going to try and experament. see what happens. im gonna go to the dealer today and see how much the ported head costs and go from there. im probebly the only person willing to try it out but oh well. someone has to be the ginny pig and i dont mind at all. if it dont work like i hope, at least the head will be built to handle a turbo when it comes, LMAO

Everything you listed there is all head work except for the pistons. Here is my advice. Buy your head first, not last. Have the work you want done to it done. The Ferrea valve parts you want will cost you $850. I know, because I have them. I have the standard size, not the oversize, but the price is no different. And for the love of God, will you quit it with the boring oversize stuff. If you are going to buy the GMPP head at about $1200, why in the hell would you want to shorten its life span by boring it out. I'm not lying to you when I say that oversized components for this engine are for saving a worn out engine. This is not a big block V8. You will not get any percievable gains from doing that. You will just end up spending a lot of money.

Then, when you have your head done and built, set it aside. Then go get your pistons. You will have to get rods as well. Then take your engine apart and put all your stuff together. Use ARP head studs for the head reassembly ($120). You can use the stock GM bolts, but the studs are much better, and reuseable, where the bolts are not.

When you are done, your engine will make NO MORE POWER then it does now. You will have small gains from the performance head, but with the reduced compression you will have loss, so it will all off-set. This build is a preparation for later power adders, like nitrous or forced induction.

My build includes:
Eagle Rods
Wiseco reduced compression pistons
ARP studs
Stock head with Ferrea valve train
GMPP adjustable timing gears

And thats just the engine. I'm not even talking about the trans.
I am running on the stock ECM with no issues of any kind despite the reduced compression.

If that is the case, and you are serious about it, I have the GMPP 10-1 stock replacement high performance piston set for sale. Feel free to PM me. I bought them at first thinking I was going to use them, but after a lot of consultation decided on the reduced compression instead. They are still new in the box, complete with rings, pins and locks.

so are you planning on running just nitrous or forced induction as well?

if you're buildin the bottom end might as well up the shot also! 100 shot ftw!

the cobalt ecotec build guide says that if you upgrade to the wiesco pistons, egale rods, stage 1 cam, valve train, the egnine is safe to a 150hp nitrous boost. So that will be the plan. i will push out as much as the build guide maximizes. if i want to go over the 150hp nitrous boost i have to sleve and bore the engine out, also upgrade to the 400hp rated CV axels and some other crap. so im going to keep it to the 150hp limit. more cost efective that way. but i really shouldnt be talking about what i plan on doing. its going to take a while. with only buying a part or 2 per month im looking at an 8 month project. thats not including the labor. cam work, piston install, and rod instals, head instal i can do myself at the on base auto hoby center. but if i change out the crank i dont have the resources to pull that off and would have to pay to get that done. and i would have to pay to get the engine bored over along with over sizing the valve guides on the head. this will most likely not be done till this time next year. once im done i will most likely stay N/A on nitrous. would love to go turbo when the salution comes out but i have no clue how those things work or how a boost controler works. i just know how to pump more fuel out of a gas tank and get it to the chambers. thats about all. i bet when im done ill get like 19 mile per gallon, wont bother me none, just means id have to fly back to michigan to visit. lol

You won't need the crank. The stock crank can handle over 500 HP. The price for the Ferrea parts is too high. I got the whole set, valves, springs, and retainers, for about $850. Everything else looks OK. You may want to add the GMPP adjustable cam gear set.
