Pontiac G5 help

Ok here is my problem. My check engine light came on and the code was P0016 which is the crank/cam correlation sensor. I changed those sensors and still there thie code. I went to my local dealership and they told me it was possibly the reluctor ring on one of my camshafts. They also told me that it could be a bad timing chain. Has anyone else had this problem, if so what was the problem or failure on your car. I ordered my camshafts and a timing rebuild kit. Is there anything else that it could be? Is there any other parts I should buy since my mechanic is basically taking apart the whole front of my engine? Please someone help me, I love my car and I would die if something else happened to it.

check the timing before you spend a lot of money replacing the timing chain. if the engine is in time then theres no point in replacing the chain.

also. check the reluctor wheel on the crankshaft/camshaft and make sure there isnt anything stuck in the wheel or a broken reluctor. check the wiring to the sensors to make sure there isnt an open in the circuit. if your not mechanically inclined then you will have no choice but to bring it to the dealer/repair shop. is situations like this i would bring it to the dealership instead of a non dealer repair shop.
