port and polish

has anyone played with porting and or polishing their head...the one on the car... and what kind of results have you had?

i have not personally but i have heard many good things. cause our heads are basically just cast. GM didn't bother cleaning them up too much cause 2.2's weren't meant to be their performance cars. but if you have the money i think it's a great mod.

and i love your sig. that is so true.

money???? i think its funny how many people swear by the philosophy built not bought....and then take their car to a shop to buff out a scratch, hang their bolt in cat back.....CHANGE WHEELS...not tires...just put another set on....im a, if i cant do it in my driveway...it cant be done without specialty tools...tires, alignments, engine balance(not install!) are basically the only things i wont do myself.....

sorry bout that tangent..do you know anyone who has it done tho?

on a 2.2? theres a few out there. theres probaby more on the cavi forums or ecotec forums. There are plenty of LSJs who ported though

on an engine such as the ecotecs i wouldn't do it myself. if you so much as sneeze the wrong way near your maf you get a cel. i wouldn't think about doing a port and polish myself.

yeas...yeas...lol some of the people on this forum make me laugh...they want to spend lik 2500 bucks on engine parts.....then take em to the dealer to have them installed...and pay another 2500...and then their dealership knows for a fact the warranty is void....in most cases neway...iv never had enough money to have soebody else do it so i do it myself.....there is the whole not trusting anyone else w my car thing but i dont think that counts here.....

no, i wish lol, pretty soon i will have intake mani, tb, and cams....then im going to build and engine and am going to get this done on that along with a full build.

ive never had the money either, and why waste it that way

only thing i have people do is stuff i cant do, like weld, or tranny work...stuff i dotn want to spend a **** ton of money on to do a few times (although i do want to learn how to weld)

NWAE..your my favorite person of the week...and i love tig welding, i like to have control over every input but arc is too hot for alot of stuff..... figures..i have an arc welder but not a tig lol
