The GM performance Parts camshafts are also mentioned and also that they require the use of new springs to avoid coil bind. They recommend Bates springs.
It's not necessary because it's not a major increase.

I've had my stage 1s since mid 2004 and have been fine since. I put the new head on last year.

Well, I will be getting a Patriot Stage 2 Head with better springs when I get cams anyway.

So what else would I have to do to reach 200 hp. I forgot to mention that I was thinking of trying to get JET to make me a custom computer chip.

If I get the stage 1 cams should I get colder plugs.

No one can honestly answer that question for you...you basically have to modify and dyno.

As far as the "custom chip", you can't chip our OBDII computers...it's worthless. The chips you do see are resistors that just make you run richer.

The replacement of valve springs is done to handle 2 things specifically; Bind as a result of higher lift, and float as a resulte of higher RPM. Spring replacement can be done without head removal. You should replace them if you plan to rev much higher then the stock limit RPM or if you are going with a high lift cam. I can not recommend Bates as I used them first, and one of their springs broke, destroying my engine. I am now using Ferrea.
