Preparing for SC, which internals should I upgrade?
At the beginning of the year I will be planning/preparing for a SC build on my balt. I already have high miles on it (57000 on an 08....) anyways... I want to upgrade some internals before I do it and wanted some opinions on what I should replace/upgrade. And no, I don't have the option of trading it in for a SS so please no comments about that. I am keeping the car for the long run, so I want to boost it. Thanks guys!

if u want to rebuild ur motor id go with low compression pistons. ur stock bore is fine. lower compression pistons play friendly with boost compared to higher compression pistons. its not necessary to rebuild your motor though. i would sc it first and rebuild after. but thats just me. just dont bite off more than u can chew ya know?

i have ~250whp with the cold temps in Vermont this time a year. Stock internals. But if you want forged stuff.
I'd go in this order:
Blower > Rods > Pistons > Valve springs / retainers
Im Running CAI, M62 (stg2), DP, CB, LSJ header, and the best tuning possible LS2Edit dynotune courtesy of Fred at SMGMortoring.
I think i'm running the highest whp 2.2 on a blower (turbo 2.2's dont count ) It's all in the tune. Gained 10 whp when switching from clear image's garbage tune to Fred's l33t ****.

Theres nothing really "required" to run up 7k and around 235hp.
If youre gonna crack open the engine you need to put in rods and pistons, I would avoid low compression pistons and just get stock pistons that can handle the boost you want.
If you get any head work done upgraded springs would be nice but arent necessary. Valves arent needed at this level either. If you plan to go well beyond 250hp I would recommend upgrading to LSJ or other high quality valves.

THIS. I wish I woulda kept the stock CR but i make more power up top than i did with my stock motor. It went super lean past 5300rpm's I wonder how much of a difference it would have made to put 10:1 in instead. humm

Thanks for the advice guys. Yeah I would like to find a spare motor so I could just build it in the meantime, then probably go big on it. Anyone in the cali area with a spare L61 block, PM me I would take it off your hands to start my build!

U do t have upgrade anything...I'm pushing 18psi on my m62 on ALL stock internals...even the stock clutch..been sc'd for 7months now...ran 11, 14, and now 18psi...not one problem due to boost...I do need to redyno the car, last time I went. It kept retarding timing bc of false knock so I only put down 220.3wtrq@2.3k rpm and 156whp...so hoping to go back an lay down a good 240-260whp...running 16* of timing so it's slightly conservative...if I have too ill ask vince to add more... U can find my videos on YouTube, keywords for my vids are jn2, eaton, m62, cobalt, cobaltss, 2.2, l61....any combo of those will bring me up.
