I live in Germany, and have full run of the Autobahns, and my base coupe stops at like 108 and i have been dying to know how to fix it. i am tired of getting passed like i'm stopped at 100 by old beemers. lemme know if you hear anything promising.

The tire rating makes sense, but I now have 17" wheels with 200+ zr rated tires, I WANNA GO FASTER DAMNIT. I'm on the highway all day, rt70 through PA and traffic is ALWAYS going 100+, then there's me in the slow lane hitting off the limiter

i think you can get it reflashed by the dealer, but it may affect your warranty

The speed limiter is an adjustable variable in your cars computer. And yes, it is set based on your tires. If you want to increase your speed limiter, it can be done, but you need to get a hold of a diagnostic servicing computer and someone that will plug it in and do it for you. It's not hard, but before now, I thought you could just go to your dealer, show them the new tires, and they would do it. But Maven would know better then I would, so now I guess you would have to make friends with your mechanic and do it after hours or something....

well it isnt cheap but it will work for all of you who want to change the peramiters of your cobalt ECU including revlimit, speedlimiter, and tire size!

Therefore Canadian cars are limited based on tire equipment exactly as the US cars.

The guy with the pic isn't at the track, but rather, on the streets. He's going too fast period. Also, if your going to goto the track to go that fast, chances are your not going to depend on your stock ECU. Many people have an independent ECU to control many of those variables, such as fuel, timing, spark, and variables controlling trap speed. Much so, a different application than your standard cobalt going that fast on a highway or street.

Here is the link for a Pre-Release purchase of the HyperPac for 2003 - 2005 GM Cars
HyperPac Presale, from Martel Brothers
They are nice but not so much that I'd spend like $800 on it. My dad had bought one off of Ebay for his truck for like $375 and it is really cool.

I agree, I made that picture to prove that cobalts can go that fast, but I did it in a controlled condition, with spotters and on a closed road. I would never go that fast just for the hell of it, theres no point. Plus it wastes gas.

I inquired about this product with Hypertech. Here was their reply:
As of now we have the Hyperpac for the Dodge Hemi and the new 5.4 3 valve Ford engine. Other applications are soon to come. Send me the engine size in you Cobalt and a phone number and I'll enter a request so you'll be notified when available. Thanks

you can say i shouldnt go that fast, but oh well. if my cobalt wont do it, ill get in my 150+ mph saab 9000 turbo and do it. know i died happy. Point was that i wanted it erased. my balt is my next project, and at one point it will go 150+. Oh and already talked to shop round here about flashing it. can be done, but they send it off. which means your car is sidelined for a few days
