quick question about dp on my application

ok...so im going tomorrow to have a new downpipe and exhaust installed at clear image...im using my exhisting muffler and clear image tri y header....but the question. In the long run, will i show a worth while gain by going catless??? i know some people say its raspy...but what exactly do you mean by that. For my application as of now I have a CAI, 4--2-1 header and a tune plus it will have a 2.5" exhaust with a resonator and my muffler is a canister style magnaflow. Eventually im going to do a full engine build with a higher compression and staged comp cams.

Just wondering on ya'lls opinions...and i have to go in tomorrow morning...early...so ill post up what i decide

Bump

I would run a cat, I had no cat on my talon and it smelled like raw fuel anytime the car was running and i was always told it was because of no cat

Run it with a cat I'd say just i case when you get your car inspected and if they look under and check there's something there

at that rate, should have just left the cat

my vote is to keep the cat. for the minimal gains you may see, it's not worth it for the awful sound imo.

The type of cat that Dan at Clear image installs is a 525cfm High flow cat the you'll get that smell no matter what.

That's the truth, my hi-flow cat smells like fuel all the time.

ill have it tuned out. when i got there they hadnt gotten thier shipment of cats in...so i am now catless
he had already bent the pipe for 3"...so we did a 2.5" dp with a magnaflow resonator, 3" exhaust piping with my existing 2.5" muffler...so i do get backpressure, but the exhaust is also ready for future upgrades if needed.

sigh... again... you don't want backpressure what do you have planned in the way of mods? 3" is way too big unless you're going turbo. unless you're doing a HUGE n/a build it will be too big.

also as far as emmisions, make sure they don't do a visual test. i had a buddy that welded a heat shield on so if you take a look under the car, it LOOKS like there's a cat there
