ram air concept
as we all know there is a GMPP intake mod to make it so that the air goes into where the box go...im not saying my concept idea is better, or thats its good, just something i came up with when i was looking at some trans am, or here's what i got planned
use the bottom of the airbox from the stock 2.2 intake, put the filter on it, cut the shape on the center of the hood, mount the bottom of the box on the hodd, w/the filter on it, than route the piping to the throttle body using universal intake piping, and cut the MAF sensor adapter off of the top part of the box(using the airbox mod), connect all the piping and there u go i made a sorta cartonnish drawing for it on my comp...
now i was some of u might think of this problem too...how will u open ur hood, simple, when u do all this, the air box will no be connected to the hood, it will actually be compressed against the hood when u close it, so lining up the hole in the hood with the box will be the hard part...hard, but do-able...
ps-its just an idea i had, i'ma try it to see if it work or not....performance gains i expect is nothin more than i would with an intake, just thinking of doin it fo the hell of it....

That's right. Also it seems the GM modified cobalt has the same setup. Here's the link.

I think i may go ahead and try it as well, I had this general idea myself but felt stupid cause it just didn't add up to me. If bringing in "forced air" passed the MAF, won't the computer control the amount of air coming in anyways? If not, wouldn't the forced air need more fuel added to make it actually work? Sort of like a turbo...without the turbo and no where near the amount of difference. Anyways, whenever I get a spare hood and a day off, i'll try it myself. But I'm looking foward to seeing how you overcome this. And if anybody can answer my question, i will listen. I'm no forced induction wiz, i just know what i've read up on back when i wanted to turbo my car.

LewiSS has already done this.

He even dynoed it blocked and unblocked to see the performance gain.
