ram air intake

ok so i got the k&n air intake kit for my 07 cobalt and i installed it correctly and now it smokes black for like 30-45 seconds on a cold start and i have no clue why its doing this. I took it to my dealership and they couldnt find anything wrong and i had multiple ppl look at the problem and the only thing anyone could come up with is that my car has california emissions. I took off the intake to see if it would still smoke and now it doesnt so it has something to do with the intake. has anyone come across this problem before or does anyone know what i can do to fix the smoking problem.

Don't understand why it would do this -- here's a lame response: Could you have installed the MAF sensor upside down? Would that even cause this problem? Can't think of anything else.....

Maybe, JUST maybe your filter is over oiled. I have the K&N installed also and don't get any smoke at all. It's running perfectly.

If it was over oiled, and I mean waaaayyyyy over oiled, it would smoke a bluish grey.

The higher air flow going through your intake maybe pushing some oil out that was lodged in the system. What is the history on the car? I'd say that sounds very strange to me. On a cold start there is not enough heat to really burn excess oil. Possibly there is a larger problem with the car and the intake is just making it more obvious due to the larger air flow.

Any way you look at it. A 2007 should not have smoke comming from the tail pipe.
