this is just what someone told me once when i was doing exhaust work to my z-28 years ago and i only had the headers on for a week. my autoshop teacher told me i'd burn the exhaust valves, and that i was losing alot of low end torque, which was true.so i took his word for it and finished my exhaust. i don't know if he was right but everything else he said was....

do you already have an exhaust on there? i could understand maybe not wanting to put stock exhaust back on til you got one on there but if you have an exhaust then why just disconnect it:P not trying to hate..

I have been told this also, but don't know how it happens. Maybe something with how the exhaust pulses

Yes this will be ONLY for a short period just long enough to get my exhaust bolted on, I was just curious on the damage it would do just in case I couldnt get my exhaust on for about a week or so. Ive helped bolt on headers on IonNinja's Ion and have heard them open, its crazy loud, sounds sweet for a while but not for everyday use, thats IMO. Anyways thank you all for the help.

If it's anything like it was when I did it with my camaro the car will shake like crazy and it'll be loud as hell when your driving, I thought I was gonna go def and I didn't let it over 2000rpms. As long as you don't have any wires or anything near the opening of the header then nothing should be damaged.
