Please buy an 08 sport for about 17k. 17k for a base model is a terrible idea.

I know u can remove the SAI and delete it out if you can find a dealer willing to but when i was installing my 2.4 mani i was the SAI was hooked up to this thing bolted to the base of the engine. so here's my question when removing it from the car is it separate from engine or do i need some type of plug for the engine?
Beacuse i was told the air goes in the engine then to the manifold... but it look like it just bolted on with no connection to the engine as far as air goin in or out but i could be wrong...

So I did the whole mini-filter on the SAI thing. Worked great for awhile but I ran into one small problem.
Like a month ago I opened the hood on a routine inspection of my car and noticed the mini breather was off. It wasn't the snuggest fit when we put it on so I wasn't shocked ya know. It had actually fallen down onto the cross member so I just grabbed it and popped it back on and didn't think too much of it.
Turns out the inlet pipe had shifted and began resting on a pulley down there. Rubbed a pretty decent sized hole into the thing, I can fit the tip of my pinky into it.
So, now I am kinda stuck. For now I just electrical taped the thing so nothing gets in there but, I am not sure how long it has been exposed like that. Worst case scenario what would happen to the car if something got sucked into there? And any advice on how to fix the hole without buying a whole new inlet tube for the car? My plan is to just do something now so I won't have issues during the winter months and then replace the tube in Spring.
Right now the electrical tape works but my god does it make my car smell awful when that engine bay heats up.

It really can't cause any damage. That air just basically get blown out the exhaust. If you wish to replace it, just get some ordinary rubber tube with the same inside diameter and some hose clamps. Autozone has bulk tubing.
