No. If you actually read the first post, you'd see SAI only runs on a cold startup for a few moments. It helps control emissions when your engine is cold and needs to idle to warm up. Basically this is useless, just some dumb act of state legislatures to help "control emissions" ya right lol

No SAI equipped car can use any current aftermarket header without completely removing the SAI system. And yes, EGR was a typo, that should have been SAI.

True, I tried getting in touch with them, I offered them my car but I never got any response.

well, I just sent Donna a PM.. I had an epiphany. I ordered myself a LSJ manifold, so that means I will have a 2.2SAI laying around once installed. Maybe I could get with them and they would have the part for R&D. It would solve a big problem for many of the 2.2's and be good for them at the same time.
you ever get your car reflashed?

This completely depends upon your individual state laws. SAI is a result of California and New York emission laws (some other states too). Here in Illinois for instance, they run your car on a dyno with an O2 sensor stuck in your tail pipe and actually measure it directly. As long as it's within limits, your fine.
So since I live in NY, does this mean if I take my car to a dealership to have them remove the SAI they will not do it? Am I SOL when it comes to an aftermarket intake?

I dont think the average dealer is going to do a reflash for you. You are probably going to have to know someone. But keep in mind, it doesn't hurt to ask. Just call up and see if they will do it for you.
You can still get an intake. Many guys have done aftermarket intakes with a breather filter over the SAI opening. Or you can get the K&N intake, this has a connection for SAI.
The only thing that people want to change but are unable to is the Exhaust Header. At the current point in time, there are no headers or manifolds compatible.

Still gonna gain 8-15hp from downpipe + catback?
#214
I don't know about 15hp, maybe 8-10hp. It's all really a guessing game though, only a dyno can be sure.

you will see gains by adding less restrictive DP and exhaust... think of the flow like water... its gonna slow down at the blockage but will then flow better once into the less restricted areas.
You will see a gain... just not the same kinda gain if you opened up the exhaust all together.
has anyone thought of just porting their SAI manifold?

I work at a GM Chevy Dealer. I will be trying this soon to see if I can do it. I have complete access to all the tools and understand everything Halfcent is talking aboot. Should be easy. I"ll let you know.

At autozone its called, "shielded breather filter" it can be found on the rice aisle. Should run about $15, fits PERFECTLY.

Something along this line, crank case filter would work to use the other intake kits.

Hell you dont even need a filter.
GM use to tuck the open rubber end under the battery's on alot of vehicles.
Only problem they had is with them sucking in water and then all you had to do was extend the hose to a dryer location.
As far as a header I cannot believe no one has made a adapter plate to hold that valve. Simple to do and easy to get a CARB#.

Just went to the dealership....
Oh damn, I just ran to the dealership on the way home. They said it was "illegal" to remove the sai since it affects emissions. I personally think that is bull...... well I can't do anything about it now, I'm think about getting a program to edit and flash ECMs. But it wasn't a complete waste, I found out if the BCM and ECM don't match VIN's it won't start. But I was thinking, does anyone know how when a ECM program is pulled, it's stored? a binary file yes, but what format, I would like to get ahold of one and toy with it see if I can get EVERY portion to read, including VIN and where SAI is enabled or disabled. If I can do this, then I might be able to do any 2.2s reflashing. Can anyone help me in this endeavor?
