Question Smaller Pulley on my SC'd 2.2

I've been s/c for about 2 months and I already want more. So I want to drop to a 2.9 pulley.

My mods currently are as follows:

- M62 w/ GM stg2 pulley and belt
- 60# injectors
- OTTP 3" Intake
- Option B
- ZZP S3 Heat Exchanger
- ZZP Midlength Header 1.5" primaries. 2.5" exit to 2.5" DP w/ hi-flow CAT
- Megan 2.5" Catback

My questions are as follows:

1. Safe on my stock 2.2 motor to drop to a 2.9..?
2. Could I go smaller than a 2.9..? If yes, what the smallest w/o having to do head work?
3. What else should I be thinking about before doing this..?

Thanks in advance,
- Springer

I've had 2.9 on my 2.4 for a little over a year now. No problems yet. Just make sure your a/f doesn't get to lean from dropping down.

JN2 was on the 2.8 for a year... so a 2.9 is in the near future I believe.

I've been on the 2.8 for a while now on my l61. I still have the stock exhaust though and I know I'll be cutting it close to the 250 hp limit once I get my header and exhaust, but it should be fine, people have been pushing l61's over 300 stock lately. You are going to change your tune when you change pulleys right?

Its so hit or miss with the L61 some are stronger than others. I cracked a ringland with bolt ons and a tune. I've taken a chunk out of a piston with nitrous. My good friend Stenguyen1 took a chunk out of the #3 piston and burned the cyclinder wall on a 2.9". Its also all in how you drive it.

I have a 2.8 as of now but I dont have any H/E parts so unfortunately it isnt on the car yet. JN2 inspired me to get it with his build IMO the 2.2 could take it no problem.
