So I installed a Fujita Air Intake...
I installed the Fujita Air Intake and it only took me like an hour and a half. The hardest part was taking off and putting back on that fender liner.
I can definitely feel the difference and I love it, but after about 10 miles of driving with it I got the dread CEL (check engine light) to come on.
Now it is really bugging me and I know people have had this problem before with AEM intakes but is there any fixes for Fujita? Thanks in advance!

Alleycat58 has the Fujita on her 2.0 and initially had a CEL that came and went. A couple weeks ago we took it off and REALLY cleaned the filter and BARELY oiled it. No more CEL. There are two things you should do:
1) Check all clamps, hoses, everything. Any and every connection, make sure it's tight. Make sure the intake is not moving around too much, just basically make sure everything is very solid. While you're in there check for water marks. There's a chance water may be getting into the intake. Reset the code and see if it comes back.
If it does:
2) Re-clean the filter on a nice, warm, sunny day when you don't have to go anywhere for a while. Rinse it out good and LET IT DRY. This will take a long time, that's why you do it on a nice sunny day so you can be SURE to clean it out well and let it dry thoroughly. Re-oil the filter but be VERY careful not to over oil it. Again, reset the code and it SHOULD be gone.

The 2.0s you can feel it in the throttle if there's a problem with the intake, I don't know if the 2.2s are that touchy or not, but it really sounds like you're pulling water in, which is NOT good. You need to get that taken care of ASAP.

you can feel it in the throttle as well alleycat58. when my buddy got his CAI for his cobalt it has a leak and u could feel the hesitation. apperently these cars were designed to only run on a air tight intake (which is a plus)

You could try running a range colder plug like the NGK BRK7E's. Try it out for a week or two and monitor the CEL. Mine has never come back since changing out the plugs and it's been almost 2 months.

well...it seems after drying it out and making sure everything is clean that I still get a CEL, but it usually comes on when I am in slower trraffic, but when I drive highway speeds it turns off. Am I not getting enough air flow?
Maybe I'll try the colder spark plugs...

Sorry I just noticed your sig and you're driving a 2.2L. My advice about the colder plugs was on the assumption that it was the 2.0L. Colder plugs will help FI engines - not sure about NA ones. Sorry once again..

I installed the Fujita CAI a couple days ago on my '07 LT coupe. I was disappointed that it didn't go all the way to the throttle body and just hooks to that ugly air plenum thing. I think the way it mounts is kinda cheesy, with just one flimsy rubber mount that doesn't really hold it in place too well. After installing it, I realized it rubs on the inner fender where it goes through, so I was getting a nasty vibration around 3-4k rpm. I adjusted it as well as I could and put some felt padding in there to quiet it down. Also, I don't know about the earlier cars, but on my '07, there's a hose going from the stock airbox to the air injection pump, and there's no provision for connecting it on the fujita unit. So, when I start it up in the morning, there's a loud whistling noise while the air pump runs. Overall, I think the system is pretty poor for how much you pay for it.

Happens to the best of us! If you answer a thread from the "home" page or through a "search" you need to do two things before submitting: check the forum heading AND the date -- you can also resurrect an "ancient" thread by accident.....

I have a AEM CAI w/ Dryflow filter and have never had a CEL since I put it on like 2 months ago... knock on wood. And I made sure I drained the ecu right down when I reset it. Just remove the negative from the battery and put ur foot on the brake for 30 sec to a min. then reconnect.
later
