ive heard that the first time the speedo goes over 100 it sets the governor. my first time over 100 i did 115 or so in my 07 LS 5 speed being stock, havent really gone that fast lately so i dont know if it changed at all. not sure if what i heard is completely true, but sounds like it could be.........

Tom(NWAE Cobalt) hit about 186mph on the dyno once. i'd say @ 7500rpms in 5th you could peg 190mph. key is the air resistance.....since there was no air pressure to fight the acceleration, you can achieve speeds on a dyno you'd never hit in the real world.

let me start off with I love my cobalt... but my vote is something was wrong with the prelude. my roomate had a '99 with nothing more than a CAI and it would easily smoke my 2.2 cobalt, that or you definitely weren't racing a 2.2, or at least not a stock one. PLUS we had his prelude at 145+ without it hitting any govs.
