Speed limiter

I'm going to pull a JBO move here...
If you don't know how to bypass it, then you shouldn't be doing it. If you understood engine management systems and how your limiter does exactly that, you'd know how to do it.
But I love how it stops you from your project just for the single notion that if you can't get pass 105. Didn't you test drive your car before you bought it?
lawl
Your speedometer has nothing to do with you getting pass 105 or not and your speedometer readings and tachometer readings are from different sources.
Speedometer -> VSS
Tachometer -> Ignition and Crankshaft Position Sensor

it has nothing to do with the speedo...if it did....then when i put the 140 mph gauges it would raise the limiter..and it didnt..i have checked!!!! it is all in your
A-ecm for manuals
or
B-tcm for autos
just like you can run with out your gauge cluster working all together, we did this in red2.4ss's car when hahn screwed up on the tune.

You cut the wire that tells the ECM or TCM how fast it thinks the cars going. Then it cant send any signals to the cluster so it just says 0mph.
Putting in 140mph clusters in wont reprogram your ECM or TCM. lawlz...

right...thats what im saying...you could cut the wire to your speedo all together...and it wouldnt matter. your dash has nothing to do with the car running what so ever. Without getting into the computer on our cars....you cant do anything about it...period

get control of your injectors, bye bye governor
this can be done with any standalone ECU
rev limiter removal requires control of fuel injectors and ignition as welll...standalone can fix this or you can run a piggyback that may be able to temporarily delay the rev limiter kick in.

they dont put pirelli's on 2.2
must have been a dealer upgrade, so its not stock
and i still have not seen anyone NEED to go past 105, except perhaps dyno numbers, but just cut the speedo as posted above.
we get a new kid in here every ****** week crying about not being able to go faster then 105 in his base balt..
difference between 1LT and 3LT (08 aka 2LT) is about 3grand, and your insurance doesnt change that much. So go back and read my posts *******
if you got a legitamate reason, cut the speedo.
but 99% you're that 16 y/o kid wanting to kill himself on the busy highway

What is the cut off set for on the 2008 SS (Sport) 2.4 with automatic and Pirellis???? Just curious. With the 3.91 final gear,,, revs are up there, even at road speed.

I didn't say you would find a dealer to do it, but it is possible, there are 2 settings in the LS computer, 1 for the 15" and ~105mph cutoff, and 1 for the 16" and ~120 cutoff...
...If you have the steelies, and continentals, you have a Base LS. If you have an LS/LT w/ the 16" Alloy wheels & and power options it should do ~120

I Have a 07 LT power everything except for the soundsystem package and im running on steelies so its not just base LS's that have them..

I agree you need differant tires for sure hands down. But to get it takin out the flash isnt as easy as other flashes my 05 has 2 diferant system for the ecu. the engine tuning part came from GM and the Throttle and fuel flow came from some other company. so if you just flashed the sport model it still wouldnt work. it will thow a code to where you cant start your car or if it does you only run like on a cylinder or something. we finaly got it tho and it runs well will full bolt ons and was up to 127, i also have z rated tires and eibach suspension but i think the 06s are differant

Question: If you got an aftermarket spedometer could you unhook your current line to the pcm and wire it directly so you could still read your speed but it wouldnt register you in the PCM?
