Standalone!
Okay i wouldnt doubt it if somone started something about this, but honestly the search never seems to work for me so im not even gonna bother!
i have a 2007 2.2 e37 cobalt without the sai in it.
i been running my own custom turbo set on it now for close to 3 months at 13 psi now.
i dynoed 217 who and 213 ft tq at 8 psi at 5500 rpm.
now sense the only tuning out there for my car is the terifica or the LS2 edit.
from what HP tuners been saying they wont have it till late summer and im sick of waiting.
so im going stand alone.
now EMS is 2,000$ cnd then i would need to buy a 2,500$CND universal wiring harness for it too.
im just wondering if theres anything out there thats a plug and play Standalone system?

My buddy has a 550HP rx7 on stock computer with piggyback. I definately recomend doing that, lot less hastle and you will still be emissions friendly, also a lot less wiring. The rx7 had a greddy emanage ultimate(with flat panel monitor).

aem sells their FI/C it controls ur fuel and igniton while retaining your stock computer i believe it just intercepts your signals for fuel and timing and replaces it with your tune.

ahhh ok. well keep me posted on LS2edit. i think its going to be my best route. im shooting for well over 400whp. Ive got a motor build going on right now with a nasty snail setup.

i had the AEM f/ic on my cobalt for a short period of time. just make sure that when you hook up, dont forget to solder in-line the resistor the instructions say to do... i forgot to do that and the f/ic threw the car into limp mode. As soon as i put that resistor in, that fixed the limp mode.
Yes it does intercept your signals. It also sends back the stock signal to the computer so that you dont throw any codes while at the same time controlling your aftermarket injectors. The instructions tell you how to adjust the tables accordingly as well.
I eventually got rid of it and went with the trifecta tune, mainly because the AEM f/ic is illegal in the state of VA and require a state inspection. They told me to get rid of it before that would pass the car for inspection

uhhh piggyback < tuning software
there is no reason at all for you to go to a piggyback when there is a tuning suite available...that would be taking a step backwards
what is inadequate about the tuning you have now that makes you feel that you need to go standalone?

it depends on what you want out of the engine... i'll be going full standalone because i'm not sure if any of the tuning software available for the 2.2 will allow you to change the MAF out. I'm running a turbo that moves 786cfm of air @ 10 psi and its pegged out the MAF.

i was talking to vince about that issue and he said he was already trying to clamp the MAF and just tune the car off of the AFR's but it kept sending the car into limp mode. He thinks the MAFs on the 2.2's are un-clampable. Not sure if he figured out how to get the MAF's to swap out or not.

interesting... so how much length of the larger pipe around the MAF will i need? from the itercooler all the way to the intake mani?

I talked to vince a few days ago, JBP is building me a forged motor and just before i install it we are going to see what the max a stock 2.2 motor can handle. So far i spiked 16psi by accident when my blow off valve and wastegate froze shut this past winter and nothing blew up

6" before the sensor to the TB should be the bigger diameter ... if you want to go full from FMIC to TB that works too what size piping you have from FMIC to TB?

the problem with my previous built motor was that the shop that built it didnt install rod bearings on the number 4 cylinder. i guess maybe ill just build it myself then. I'm not sure what vicred problem was with the shops that was working on his car, i didnt read the whole thing. All i know is he got boned some how. Too many pages to search through to find out the exact story.

Did you seriously just say trifecta or ls2edit was an option and hpt wasnt gonna support your ecm? You realize that HPTuners, LS2Edit, and Vince's software are all the same damn thing? Only difference is Vince hasnt created the full software yet so he has not released it out into the public. Soon tho

sw4y1313...you tell vince that if he is going to come out with a program that supports the 2.2 and will be able to help us then he has a long list of people waiting for it...that is aside from the fact that hpt has said for like 2 years that they were working on our ecms, and the fact that hpt and ls2edit are completely different programming....correct me if im wrong but doesnt ls2edit use parts of gm code in their software?? ....dont rip on someone because you dont like their idea, it makes you look like a *****, cuz he might be going for 600+ and pykie,dude if you do go standalone please put up a how to lol vince sorta has the market cornered in that there arent many people who have tuned a 2.2 on their own, and it would be awesome if more people did it themselves...still savin for ls2edit myself
