Stock sparkplugs

Anyone know what plug comes stock in the 2.2? I could just go pull a plug, but I dont want to pull them until I decide that I want to upgrade them...

So would there be any advantage whatsoever to changing to a Bosch platinum 4, smoother start/idle/better gas mileage?

I've heard nothing but negatives from switching from stock to platinum 4s.

This is one of those times that stock is just fine and possibly better than aftermarket options. Stay stock and focus on other areas for performance.

unless your plugs are bad you aren't gonna see much if any difference from other spark plugs

Spark plugs are a tune up item, not a performance "mod" unless you're doing something wicked crazy, just use OEM plugs. anyone that claims a power boost from plugs either...

A.. had old nasty ones and the new ones helped.

B.. had the wrong plugs for his application.

C.. had poorly gapped plugs before.

D.. is a freaking idiot.

Upgrade them to a colder plug for FI (ie.turbo or nitrous), that's about the only reason to upgrade your plugs. And if you don't you just might find yourself driving around on 3 cylinders. Detonation isn't pleasent, been there done that.

Im not looking for a power increase. Just smoother idle, easier starts, better mpg's ect. My girl has a 2.2 eco in her 03 Alero. She had chepo Champions in her car for some reason, and if my car had the same I was going to replace them. I replaced hers with Bosch Platinum 4's and her gas mileage went from 260-270 miles per full tank, to 300-310 miles per tank. There's only 30k on her car...

Yeah, unless your plugs are bad, that's when your MPG will be effected.

every GM car i have ever seen has had AC delco plugs. "keep your GM car all GM"

if it had champions, they're probably replacements. Honestly, delco plugs arn't bad. Bosch are also good plugs. MY guess would be that her car had the wrong plugs or they were gapped wrong or whatever. That's why you saw an increase, not because it was a"better" plug.

The only thing was they had some signs of running rich. No signs of not firing at all. And they were gapped correctly, that was the first thing I checked before I even bought the plugs.

If my car has platinum AC Delco's, then I'll keep it that way...
