Stupid SAI
What can I do next to mod my car?! This Secondary Air Injection is really starting to get to me...
I've got the GMPP exhaust, and intake with a bit of modifications to bypass SAI problems. What else can I do? I can't get the GMPP exhaust manifold. What about the downpipe? Does SAI affect this as well?
This is my first car. And I was hoping it would be something to be proud of when modifying...except I can't really mod much!
Sorry, felt the need to rant...

i used to have an 06 lt, i had the pacesetter exhaust...i hated the SAI, i always delt with my CEL lite.....theres not much you can really d about it because there is no exhaust manifold made for 2.2's with california emissions. unless you can custom make a working seat on the exhaust manifold for the valve. besides that i just sucked it up. but now i have an ss.
hopefully hp tuners will get something out t help out with that, i emailed them when i had my 2.2 (had it till last september) and they said not expect anything till 2007.

Anyone else have any ideas on what else I can do?
I suppose I could hold off on the performance for now, and start working on upgrading my audio & finding a body kit & some wheels...

why would anyone even think about doing that putting the 2.4 engine into their 2.2?? spending a total of at least 7-10,000 to gain about 26 horses? don't think so...

Are these meant only for the 2.2s?

I think a better downpipe will promote better airflow to your exhaust.
More airflow = More horsepower
The stock downpipe is a bit restrictive. The idea is to create the best airflow possible for your engine.

Yes I read up on downpipes, the tubing is wider thus allowing more airflow to pass through, because it is less restrictive. More flow means more "potential" power. I say potential, because if you have no way of getting more air in, as in forced indution, then you have no way of getting more air out. A CAI would be a good start to allowing more air, ad cooler air at that, but it still only allows so much flow. A downpipe would be most efficiant with a turbo or a supercharger.
