Supercharged or Turbo... Different type of discussion

Question, I can pick up a full turbo kit for less than what i have in my supercharger kit that i was getting ready to install this weekend. So my question is which one should I install?

Thanks homies!

I say supercharger. In the long run, it's more reliable.

superchargers aren't more reliable. reliability lies in how you treat and take care of your car.

It's totally up your personal preference and your goals in horsepower and where you want to go with your car

I love turbos to be honest, at the time the supercharger was the easiest to bolt up

I don't know any supercharged ls's but I do have a friend that has a ls with zzps 252 turbo and its pretty damn fast. If you want some good power 300+ I'd say turbo

This^

Personally I'm staying supercharged, I love the sound of the supercharger whining as I accelerate. Don't need to do a turbo swap, since I'm not aiming for more than 350 HP

its personal prefference as stated before. set a goal and go from there, once youve made a goal then you need to choose whats best for you and your car.

Me=turbo

Again this is not a fact, a lot of this relies on tune. To say 250whp will blow your engine is stupid.

fine, it is NOT RELIABLE at 250whp without building the bottom end first

There's many people who have pushed the stock motor to that level. I know you are trying to help but just because your motor blew up at 210 whp doesn't mean that nobody can go above that reliably

Well think of it this way... Building bottom end now will cost maybe 1500. Building after blowing up can cost well over 2k and leave you without a car for a while

Look im not being mean, but just stop. If motor blew at 210 hp, i honestly think something was wrong with it before hand. Now my question is pretaining to my OP, not the reliability of the l61.

i would say turbo, superchargers are cool but better on a bigger motor, turbos sound awesome and better wow effect when the hood is popped. more power and if tuned and driven right better mpg.

I disagree with this. I get more WOW with my ported and polished blower, even at maybe 230 to the wheels then my buddies with the HAHN stage kit turbos get all the time. With these cars and these motors, the blower is RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE when you pop the hood. If a turbo is done right, sometimes it cant even been seen. I have a buddy with a 400HP HAHN stage 5 cavalier, and he did his right, and without knowing, you would never be able to tell at first glance that it is a turbo'd car. Sure he has the sheetmetal intake, and fancy SS lines and stuff, but so do some of the badass NA cars i know of.

To me, the blower pic is way way better then the turbo pic. And these cars belong to the same guy. all the stuff from the red car pic is currently on my car however as he sold it to me then dropped the motor in the yellow car and turbo'd it.

250whp s/c > 250whp turbo

Turbo is a good option if u want more power than a s/c but if your goals are attainable with a blower id go that route. Better power band and better to DD

This might be one of the first times that a turbo guy has acknowledged that a supercharger has some benefits over a turbo lol
