GM Makes a S/C (M62) kit for the 2.2 Eco found in the late 2002--2005 J-Body (17800003). The kit requires a reflash which is done at the dealership, and once flashed cannot be read by HPTuners (or possibly any other ECM reader) thanks to GM basically making it unreadable.

So I think 2.2 cobalt owners just need to wait for HPTuners to jump in and support the cobalt application of the 2.2, then the S/C kit made for J's might work, again with the help of the good folks at HPTuners. That could take longer than most people would be willing to wait though. Still, for those who dont plan to (or dont have the funds to) immedately do anything anyway, this could be an upgrade path to follow.

You're correct but on 1 thing. Yes, there is a reflash for that 2.2 kit but there is no way that reflash will work for a cobalt. Also, the kit includes a TMAP (Temperature/Manifold Air Pressure) Sensor which is a 2.5 bar sensor. The sensor will not work properly with the computer unless the computer is flashed for it. If you put that sensor on and wire it up, it will not work properly and your car will drive funky.

Basically, the physicality of the supercharger kit as far as the supercharger itself, pulley, belt should work fine...other than that is the fuel management side of it which will not work on the cobalt.

So to anyone planning to do this setup, you need to either:

A. Wait for HP Tuners

or

B. Get a standalone unit like Megasquirt

I'm seriously getting sick and tired of waiting for someone or GM to give the 2.2 a boost (literally)

I'm gonna just swap a 2.0L in if I don't see something in the next year.

Do what I did when GM tried ripping me off for an supercharger package...build your own turbo setup.
