Superchargin my auto 2.2

I like to go fast

And i have a auto 2.2 lt and i was wondering if i could purchase a supercharger kit from maybe Gm...they make one?... or i could gather the parts and pay Gm to install. While i know this will cost a pretty penny about how much will the install be? The Kit? How will this affect my warranty? Will my auto trans be happy with the boost? Any info is greatly appreciated as i would like to think this out, plan and do it right.... Thanks alot guys!!

This is random but i came across this http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...t-W67C144.aspx

will it really do as it says? Is it worth it? Maybe a good combo with a blower?

ooo the possabilities

Thanks again, Much love, no homo

ok, there is no SC kit for the 2.2... there is a turbo kit for the 2.2, but i thinks it's only for 5spd.

and yes the 2.4 intake manifold is worth the money with or without F/I

There is no supercharger kit out for the 2.2L from anyone as far as I know.

As durka said there are two turbo kits out, but they are both for the 5spd.

Everyone is still waiting for more tuning options.

2.4 refers to the displacement of the engine, not the intake manifold it has. The 2.2 S/C kit you're referring to is meant for the Cavi and will not work with your 2.2 cobalt. You'd also need some sort of tuning method to get any forced induction to work properly. there are ways to do it, but at the moment its extremely pricey.

oo ok i see thanks for the help, hope fully theres a break through in the next few months, this is helping alot guys keep it comin!

my other option is getting the alpine turbo kit, i would still need tuning with that though correct? it will prolly not be good for warranty either

either way i will need to find a trans also

if you're worried about warrenty, stay stock. i'm only saying the because it seems to be a big deal, you've mentioned it a few times.

as far as having the dealer install parts, call a different shop, ask what they charge, and double it. that's what the dealer charges. just bring some ky and you'll be ok though.

Let alone if they'd even do it...

My dealership wont do much more than warranty work and oil changes.

Ok dude, use that search button, threads like this are all over the place with all the answers you can possibly look for. And yes, there is a 2.2 SC kit but its for the cavi. You COULD buy it, but you would still need to purchase a tuning solution. Either the AEM FIC, SMT-6, or some other piggyback or standalone.

It DOES NOT taking some crazy amount of fabrication to fit the M62 on a 2.2. You need to first purchase the intake manifold, and M62(either used from an LSJ or new) and bolt it up. You would then need to fit the TB to the SC, which i believe yellow did by boring out the holes and using washers and a spacer plate. Then you would need to hook up the heat exchanger and tune it. Talk to someone who has done it already.

I don't know about power loss down low, it doesn't feel much worse than stock , but the gains are well worth the minor drop in torque down low. I'd say maybe 3 ft lbs . Nothing major.

It gave me 6 more hp with just the manifold swap but thats mostly because I'm auto and have other mods that boosted my hp in other areas.

Each car would be different of course.

Im curious to how the 2.4 manifold got in this thread. It would not even work with a supercharger unless you use a procharger. But i highly doubt the OP was looking for a centrifugal setup.

i posted the manifold in the original post

Im from oakland in bergen county

how does the manifold affect ur sound?

cobalt05 said in another thread that theres a 2.2 cavi turbo that can bolt up to mine, only problem would be tune but this may cover warrenty...ill talk it over with dealer...i made this more to see if i would be able to but i see it sounds like more trouble than its worth

Lets not start an e-fight guys. This is a site for edcation, Sway was just pointing out the search tool because there are too many people who don't know how to use it and repost a lot info thats already been said. He is correct that this topic has been covered however there is nothing wrong with a new post if it presents new questions and new answers.
