Yes a real tune is better, but you 2.2 guys got the short end of the stick when it comes to tuning...
Look into AEM, or Trifecta for your tunes... don't trust a chip!

If your 2.2 ECM has connectors that are in a row -- top-to-bottom (NOT 2 connectors side-by-side) Jet Chip has a stage 1 module or a stage 2 module that you can use. They do provide some increased peformance. These are not a "Chip" -- Jet Performance makes them. They are more like a piggyback system.
If you can find and trust someone with HPTuners by all means or if you want to try the other tunes, trifecta, for example, other posters have had some luck with them.

Canned tune is overused in this forum. EVERY Cobalt comes with a "canned tune" from the factory.

Yes yes they do.... that is correct but also a very safe, very conservative tune... when you start getting into adding timing and leaning cars out you need to be very CAREFUL about what you choose. If you choose to use a "CAN" tune then go ahead, having the adjustability of a Custom tune will be far more beneficial in the long run!
Every Cobalt is different, my tune on my car won't work on some other cars....

I haven't read any 2.2 owners' posts that have had damage due to the Jet Performance module on this site or other Cobalt sites I keep up with. There have been a couple of posts where the owner recieved a defective module and had to send it back for a replacement. Read the other posts on the module in the 2.2 forum to help you make up your own mind. I'm very happy with the module in my Cobalt.

okay im looking at the jet site and what is the difference between the module and the chip...any recc's on stage one vs stage two? and would the MAF sensor from jet be worth buying...its called power-flo MAF this is what they say "Powr-Flo Mass Air Sensor
Part #: 69143
The JET Powr-Flo Mass Air Sensor delivers improved horsepower, torque and mileage from your car, truck or SUV by simply replacing the restrictive stock mass air sensor. The factory sensor not only is a major restrictive point in stock intake systems, but it also limits the full potential of aftermarket cold air intake systems. The flow bench tested design of the JET Mass Air Sensor provides airflow increases of up to 45% and installs in 10 minutes or less. Compatible with other aftermarket upgrades such as computer upgrades, cold air intakes, TBI spacers, free flow exhaust systems,"
im trying no to sound too ignorant!! hahah thanx

I dont think think that the MAF on the L61 is all that restrictive, its not the same style sensor as when JET first started making high flow MAFs, our sensor is just a little "blade" type deal that slides into the intake tube, unsure how they could dramatically improve upon that.....

I think you will be satisfied with it. I am with mine. Jet Performance has been in business making modules and proms for 20+ years. Don't think they'd be around if they made stuff that didn't work -- AND I don't think JEGS or Summit Racing would sell them if they knew selling stuff that didn't work would hurt their sales too.
