I know what you mean, and I wish I knew the answer for the 2.2

He wants to know what temp the thermo opens fully at.
It is most likely a 180*, or 195*, thats what most cars have.

This kinda makes me curious...I wonder if installing a lower temperature thermostat would make a difference. (Especially since it's at least 105* everyday outside)

I don't know about the L61, but I've been told that the LSJ has a 180* thermostat. I could be wrong. Since they are practically the same motor I have no reason to see why it wouldn't be the same. I also have a LE5 and the readout on the DIC is only about 10* higher than my LSJ and that is with the plastic cover still on in the same weather. I wouldn't be surprised if all the Ecotec's had the same thermostat. Has anybody cross referenced the part numbers?

i guess i will call autozone or look on gm's website or something. I'm curious because with the jet chip (i'm lookin into it because i want a tune) it says you need a 180* thermostat and i thought the car already had a 180* one. anybody work at a dealer that can look it up quick? The thermostat for the l61

Stock thermostat is 195*.... If you have to replace it, replace it with the original GM/Delco part.

Just make sure you don't go too low, lower is not always better.. you want to make sure the engine operates at it's original temperature it's manufactured to operate. If you don't have any heavy mods on the engine that would increase it's temperature then you won't need a lower stat but if you feel more comfortable with one then go ahead and get it.
