Thinking of Turbos. Whats suited for my application?

I'm thinking of planning a turbo install here in the near future, and I was wondering would be a good turbo to base it around. goals are as follows

Looking for 230-250 WHP, and boost by about 3k rpm
daily driven, stock motor, auto trans

Sizing a turbo with the math gets me confused.

I was thinking about a turbonetics super 60, what do you think about that idea?

16G is a nice turbo, my good friend had it on his '98 Eclipse GS-T..

Spooled up fairly quick and put out some good numbers.

I would agree, the MHI EvoIII 16G would be a great turbo to start with. It can flow upwards of 40lb/min of air meaning you could make around 380whp if you really wanted to. It spools very fast and you can get them brand new for under $600. You would just have to buy an exhaust manifold for a TD05 turbo. The flange is a 4 bolt but its a little different then the typical T25 or T3 flanges. Vulcan has the option on their website for you to order their exhaust manifolds with the TD05 flange.

The thing that turns me away from a 16G is the fact that it needs to have coolant lines routed to it, and the compressor outlet needs a flange and pipe for it.

I've thought about it as well.

What do you think about these specs? Garrett T3/TO4E 50 trim w/ .63 a/r. I'm not about to spend the extra cash on a Ball Bearing Turbo

Mhi 16g would b ur best bet, that with a dam j pipe for the compressor outlet and u'll b good. The Garrett u posted should start building boost around 3k, considering it's the .63 exhaust, and .60compressor. The disco potatoe would b good too, but cost wise, I don't think their is a turbo that will beat the 16g

Im considering the 16 but it seems like more work that others to get it done right.

I'm thinking of
T3/TO4E
T4/TO4E 57 trim
T3 Super 60

????

I really don't want to use a 16g, seems like added hassle. I'm thinking this might be my best bet.

Garrett T3/TO4E 50 trim w/ .48
COMPRESSOR SPECS:
flow: 46lbs/min 588cfm
50 TRIM WHEEL
TURBINE SPECS:
.48 A/R HOUSING
STAGE 3 WHEEL

Should spool soon around 3k, and should pull through the top end.

if the .48 A/R will spool too soon, I'll go .63

yeah a .48 is way small, the .63 will work better for you, and you dont HAVE to run water for the 16g, and running the water i easy as ****, you buy 2 plastic tees, wire 2 more hoses, not lines, these things arent even under high pressure so u can use regualr worm clamps, and thats it, and on top of that, its a DSM turbo, there are so many thing you can do, making a o2 hosuing is easy as ****, bc you can just buy one form ebay, already recirculates, than you only deal with a 2 bolt flange, vs any 4 or 5 bolt that may come on the garrett....

That o2 hosuing housing cost me 60 shipped on ebay, and if you position the turbo right, it will face straight towards the exhaust and make fabricating a DP so much easier, bc than its just a pipe with less bends, and all the curvy angles are done for you

JN2 you posted one with an internal wastegate, I dont know much about 16G's do they have an option to be externally wastegated... like an internal wastegate delete or just one without an internal wasteagate??

On my Cav I had a Garrett T3/T04B - 60 trim - stage 3 wheel, .70ar compressor, .48ar turbine.

I loved it. On the LN2 (2.2 OHV) motor, with 2.5" charge piping and 2.5" DP back custom exhaust... I was making max boost at 2800 RPMs and had decent top end as well. Once it hit 0 it would instantly hit the 9 psi I had it set at. I was in the mid 200s at the wheels with it as well.

In the future I would go for something with a slightly larger turbine size, however it was perfect for my specific application... that turbo was good for 350-375 ponies estimated.

I would steer clear of the straight T4s. The T3 Super 60 is a good choice as well. Im personally fond of the Hybrid T3/T4s.
