Throttle Body mod, Idle trouble WR sram installed
Ok so i bored my tb this weekend. I removed the plate to sand and polish and sanded the opening and a little on the back. when i reinstalled the plate i tighted to much and it wouldnlt move so i loosend it and idle was at like 2k; tightend a little more and got idle to about 1.5k. Will I see any gains from this mod? i have weapon R ram intake and want to get a 2,4 manifold and gmpp exhast when i get the cash. I avoided sanding the plate where it is closed.
However removing and reinstalling the plate i scratched the inside a little and sanded it out currently I have a
67.2 w x 67.5 h opening tapered to stock size at plate and opened the back to 60.33w x 60.33h
1. should I sand and polish anymore?
2, will I get any gains currently with just the intake installed.
3.should i replace I manifold gasket?
4. what is optimal sizes and taper angels for mpg/performance (looking for low,mid range as well as if possible high)
5. Will a 2.4 mani and new exhaust be worth it?
6.what angle is recommended for the TB taper?
7.what ways can I tune the car
Thanks for your help I really appreciates it will upload pics and keep you posted on my progress. I have been researching these questions and can't find complete answers. any help is appreciated, And I will Post answers if I find them Thanks, Doug

i read it, and umm...what...wait wait wait...umm...did u try and port n polish your TB? as in make the opening bigger? if you did...bad bad move...would of been better to make apost saying you were going to make a bigger TB, that way we can all bash and you wouldn't do it, than to post it after you do it, now we all say "your fucked", the stock TB is fine, no need to upgrade it, its size is big enough, any bigger velocity slows down...ur idle is fucked b/c of the boring you did, when you sanded you made the opening bigger, there is no size to the TB u can change it to increase power, none that show a increase in power, even with the bigger SS/NA Throttle body no gains were shown, even when tuned...

yeah i pulled the TB to clean it and figured i would port it to about 18 mm down to stock plate and the back to the manifold (maybe). most likey ganna get a 2.4 mani when i can get a deal so id like to match it up with that. looks like i can go about 68-9 mm at mouth to increase velocity of air and throttle response ...done it to all my cars never had a problem

It sounds to me like you ported where the plate should hit. This means that when your foot is off the gas, the computer is sensing more air than normal, so the rpms climb. The TB shouldn't be affected by a polish and maybe a little porting. It sounds like you ported where you shouldn't have.

I need to know where the plate sits at idle, so i can adjust it so it's closed or machine a new plate.
Details:
I think I screwed up by removing the plate it scraped the sides a little. However when i re-installed it - in a rush the plate was stuck shut cause i over tightend the screws, so it wouldn't even start. after loosing the idle was 2k. tightend them a little and it dropped to 1.5 3rd time im down to 1.2 and it seems to be getting better as the ecu adjusts. (I disconnected the battery every time for 30 min +)
Thanks for your help.

If i'm not mistaken if you port the throttle body (larger mouth to smaller plate) the velocity of the air will increase by forcing a larger volume into a smaller opening. I finished it up today and I am happy with the results so far. Idleing at 950 and it seems to pull a little harder. I'll keep you guys updated on MPG and performance. No CEL's either.
Thanks for everyones input
