got a big step done today. started by plastigauging all rod bearings. checked out A-OK. then installed pistons for the final time. checked ring gap on one and it was fine. easy but time consuming. put new water pump and chain in. was a real bitch. need to order a new lower tensionor at work tommrrow and the front cover can go back on. cleaned oil pan and front cover. tommrrows plans after work include cleaning block top/sides, put oil pan back on, and if the head is done which it should be mount the cames mani fold and turbo on it and drop it in. then it SHOULD be easy sailing there on out.
