Timing guide snapped
alright so my girlfriend has both an 03 and an 04 cavi, both with the same problem. the 03 cavi randomly killed itself one day and lost compression. head was somehow oil starved and the black camshaft chain guide snapped in 5 pieces and the bottom bolt for that guide also snapped itself into the block.... my buddy's sister had an 04 cavi that did the exact same thing. has anyone experienced this in either a cavi or any of the l61's? i haven't had this issue in mine, i just think it's more than a "lemon car" problem since 2 cavis, same problem. what i think is that since their power steering is hooked up to the intake camshaft, it puts just that much more strain. any thoughts?

Could this be an issue more related to the Gen1 L61s, or is it also common on the Gen2 L61s (2007+)? Planning on s/c'ing my 08 in the spring but I have no idea of if this is something to watch out for, or if there is a solid way to avoid it.
