yeah it pretty much takes me about 35 seconds to top out my car. But one thing for you guys to know is our 07's got the 2.0s/c headers on them which means they're pretty good up till 200hp. Unfortunately, HP tuners doesn't have a program for our L37 pcms yet, but rumors have it that they're cracking our 07 2.2s since our pcms are different than the 05/06's. I'll have to stay tuned to see whats happeneing.

it's all relative too. before my 2.2, i had a '91 cavalier, and then a ford taurus wagon so my 2.2 was pretty damn fast in comparison. my taurus woudln't go over 85 without you fearing for your life.

True dat...

Even since I upgraded to better tires I have yet to get my limiter removed, I have no business being past 105 on the street... Now if I ever break into that for trap speed...then I'd look into it.

I don't drive an ss/sc, or a wrx sti, i drive a base cobalt which is what i can afford. I have driven modded integras that friends have had and civics and a couple other 4 cylinders. And out of the N/a 4 cylinders i have driven this thing pulls pretty good up to 110. I have driven an ss/sc and yes compared to that my 2.2 is slow. But it seems too many people are under estimating the 2.2 because they drove a rental one or when they had theirs they only did an intake (probably short ram at that) and cat-back and didn't get much benefit from it.

I still don't think the Pontiac has a limiter. My 07 base Pontiac got to 137 on I-24 late at night. however I did get haycock tires factory, not continentals.

i'm not one of those people i'm not knocking the 2.2 at all, i LOVED mine when i had it. I had it for about 2 years. full exhaust and intake, strut bar, springs, etc. pretty much everything you could do without ripping the engine apart, or adding nitrous. it's a kick ass car for the price range, i agree. if there was better aftermarket support, i would have not even thought about getting rid of the car. but after 2 years, and putting a decent amount of work into it, and once we found out that hp tuners would never release anything, i had a decision. keep the car and hope that more options would be available, or trade it in. so i traded it in.

but, again, believe me when I say that if there was better aftermarket support i would have kept the 2.2. lots of the older 2.2 owners that have been here a while know that i was one of the people pushing hard for hp tuners to crack our car, along with many other companies. i was also one of the first people to figure out how to put an intake on the car with sai. when i was explaining the sai people told me i was on crack, and didn't know what i was talking about but i had the intake on there

hell time, d4 and all the others thanks for agreeing with me haha lots of people dont have to much faith in the 2.2s even though they DO have potency if you hook them up right and get them tuned correctly and im with d4 when he says there is a little more a.m. stuff for us 2.2's but the 07's are still somewhat lackin a lot of what the 05's and 6's have and i would like to see HPTuners crack the 2.2's also that would be an achievement!

If you lost your license then maybe you should think about installing a governor to stop you from going faster than 65. WTF is wrong with you?

Speeding that excessively on public roads is ******* retarded. If you lost your license because of that maybe you shouldn't be driving period.

There is a speed limiter for a reason, to save ur life and others. Those stock contis are only rated for like what 120 mph tops, I forget what the exact speed rating is. Do u really want to go 120 mph plus on a tire that is rated for 120 mph? No unless ur an idiot. On my ss/sc I have tires rated for up to 186 mph, yes I will never go that fast but I know im safe when im reaching 140+mph.

If u can find a dealership to bump ur speed limiter up by buying a new set of tires and rims with a higher speed rating good luck. I havent heard of too many people being successful at it.

later

******* wrong.... i hit 120 in 4th and still pulliln decent for that speed and yes i have z rated tires and a hell of a suspension and good brakes

Um dude

I think bypassing the speed limiter is the last of your worries and I don't think that it's getting to you that you should slow down if your limiter isn't enough for you.

I don't think a large chunk of metal really cares what speed rating ur tires are when u hit it going 140+.

But, back to original post......where can this be removed? Local dealer, chopshop?
And it's just $500 or varies depending on other factors?

I know it looks like i was referring to you but really i was just covering all the bases so someone wouldn't say "Yeah, i had one with an intake and catback and it was still super slow, so now i have an ss/sc" or some b.s. like that. I wish hp tuners or some other company for that matter (i had NEVER even heard of them til i joined this site) would crack our cars because i would love to do a full N/A build or at least be able to go F/I without going piggyback.
