LS2_edit software from Carputing, LLC. is available for '07-up L61 cobalts. I have a manual trans, but they say it does the automatic TCM as well.

Some screenshots for your enjoyment:

Amazing customer service. I had trouble getting the editor to load on my laptop because I have an oddball version of windows xp that seems to be missing some important libraries or something, so I exchanged many emails back and forth with Mr. Ken Kelly, every time I got a friendly response within a few hours, and after rewriting some of the software a couple of times for me, it now works.

When did this come out and how much does it cost?

Is it laptop plug-n-tune status?

Not sure when it came out. I discovered it about 2 months ago while searching on google.
Current price is $550 for a single vehicle license. Yes, a cable interface is provided that plugs into the obd2 port on the car and a usb port on your computer.

if you're talking about the tuning available from trifecta, then no, i think i remember something about trifecta not being able to do TCMs.

noticed in that ls2 file the PE is set to 8000rpm. Whereas ClearImage set it to engage at the very bottom end.

Reasoning for disabling PE?

Its from a small company called Carputing, LLC in Massachusetts. They've been doing tuning software for GM cars since 1999. Just a couple of computer/electronics geniuses that like to play with cars, so they started manipulating GM control units.

not true, i don't know where you read that.

if you'd bothered to read or look carefully at any of the screenshots you'd see that it was for the ECM. I mentioned that TCM tuning is also available, but i have a manual trans, so no TCM.

screenshots are the initial read from the stock ecm before any changes have been made. maybe ask GM why they did that.

no money for dyno time at the moment.

also, still looking for a solution for our intake cams.
i called comp cams' tech line, i asked if they could regrind a stock cam on a smaller base circle, and the guy told me that was a no-go, he mumbled something about hardness and heat-treating, and didn't really have any suggestions to offer. The guy was actually pretty rude about it and finally he hung up on me without any kind of "goodbye" or "have a nice day". So much for southern hospitality, I buy a set of cams from these people and they won't hardly give me the time of day. Another large performance parts company gone bad, I guess.
