Turbo- Custom or Kit?
Thinking of doing a a turbo build on my car and I was wondering if it would be cheaper to go with a custom kit, or go with say the ZZP stage 2.
If I go custom what would be a good turbo to build around. Looking for DD ability and about 220 wheel through an Auto.
I'd like 250 wheel but at 250 crank the stock internals like to die.

I would say just find someone selling a kit on here. They go around 1000-1400$ for everything and you would just need to instal and get the tune. The ZZP Kit I was told that you would need a custom made intake mani or something but idk.
Also the 2.2s hold up really great I have heard and especially the autos hold up amazingly but its all up to you on what you get and if you want to get it. I wanted a turbo kit for my 2.2 but im 17 and about to go to college after this year of school so I need to save money or else I probally would.
Best of luck to whatever you decide!

goin wit a custom kit is cheaper. but you will most likely run into problems. most common one is not having everything you need so you will prolly have alot of down time.
a good turbo would prolly by the GT2860RS that comes in the garrett turbo kit. good luck wit the kit

Dude I am in the same boat. I have saw people on here selling for
like 1000-2500 and claim to be complete. But idk.
Then with the zzp if u r a 2.2 they will discount their kits cause they
don't have tune files for us so u would have to go trifEcta.
So I might just supercharge mine. Cheaper and from what I hear
it's more easier to maintain.

when you start your car you should have ur turbo go though a warm up perioud then if you hit boost when you go to park you need to sit for a minute and let the hot oil get out of the turbo so like even downshifting while ur going to ur house is annoying. but get a turbo time and life is better

I'm probably just gonna go with a ZZP stage 2 and a Trifecta Tune. For the peace of mind.
Hopefully by this time next year my engine will look like this.
ZZP Stage 2
TTR Engine mount inserts
And catback(Possibly ZZP 3in)
Technically not in the engine but
-Turbo Timer

Turbo timer is an easy add on so go that route and don't worry about the cool-down before shutting it off....idling for a minute before you go isn't a big deal either...only have to idle for a minute or so and just take it easy for the first 5-10 minutes of driving.

you only really need to let the turbo cool down if youve been doin really aggressive drivin like racing on the way to work or somethin. but if youre just goin cruisin and hit boost a couple times its no big deal. and mcflurrey, consider gettin internals as well, im willin to bet once you hit boost 1 time you will want to up it
