Turbo Help!!!!!!!
hey guys I am looking to do the turbo from cobalt proformance aka this one: http://www.cobaltperformanceparts.co...roducts_id=417
except im gunna build it on my own to save me alittle cash.. by bending the piping and stuff
And I was wonderin g who all makes the parts for this because "larger than stock injectors" is kinda bland.. what kind and how big do i need them...
This is what it says but I kinda want to know all of the specifics:
Garrett® GT2860RS Turbocharger
Cast turbo manifold
Cast down pipe
Gaskets and fasteners
Oil and water lines
Attachment hardware
Charge air cooler
Charge air cooler plumbing
Hardware
Engine Control Unit
Larger-than-Stock Fuel Injectors
Garrett Brand Boost Gauge

Your probably better off buying the kit to be honest. Lot less headache and comes with tuning and has been tested. Without the tuning your going to be pretty much dead in the water.

You're better off buying the parts seperately from this kit.
Just understand you're putting all the R & D in your hands, especially, the piping part and fuel management part unless your'e going to try to get the SCT flash.
Do you have enough understanding on how to build a turbo kit properly?

unless you have had experience in the past with turbos, etc..... I would just buy the kit, It might seem like more money, but in the long run, it might just save you money....plus it will be a learning experience for you. just my 2 cents.....
Good luck!!
Good luck!!

That may be a good idea honestly because you don't want to get over your head...I've done the custom route on a L61 and it's pretty involved.

I'm not 100% the difference exterior of the engine between your vehicle and a cavalier but I'd imagine that space might be different slightly and maybe in how they route the piping.
Just buy the kit that was designed for your vehicle

adam isnt the MT only thing just for the alpha kit.
I think all the piping would still be good and ofcourse the turbo and all the rest, its jut your tune.
If im not mistaken SCT almost or does have a tune thats available for the 2.2 auto's. You could buy garrets GT tuner kit, which is everything but the tune, and try for the sct tune or use a piggy back on low boost, so as to not hurt the engine.
And if i sound like i dont know what im talking about, I dont, Ive just been researching and **** for a long time and it seems to me like what i said is right, oh and the fact im dead tired and its 2:30 in the morning, so if any of that was wrong please correct me

They usually advertise what transmission they support.
This isn't saying that you could never turbocharge your automatic
Just that a kit that says "manual only" won't fit yours.

alpine has a piggy back tune with their turbo kit. Its safe to use under low boost pressures as far as i understand. But SCT i think may have a tune or will have a tune for auto soon or maybe now
