Turbo piping question.

Still in R&D on a custom turbo setup. I want to utilize my pacesetter and then double 90 (Ushape) up from it and sit my turbo near where I thin the Hahn kit has it and then run the turbo exhaust right next to it back down as the down pipe so the pipes would be piggy-backed in the same area roughly would I have enough room in the downpipe/manifold area.

https://www.cobaltss.net/gallery/fil...9/100_0288.JPG click the linky. right of the injen by about 8-10inches is where the turbo will be. the injen piping will be the intake part of the piping from the intercooler. so the turbo inlet/exhaust piping will run between the fuse box and the block. output from the turbo would go under Drivers headlight, similar to the injen side, and hook into the intercooler. intake from the turbo would utilize the injen's filter. Do I have room or what? Should I just trash the pacesetter and make a low profile manifold and keep the turbo in the same similar area because with the pacesetter I am running about 2 extra feet of piping with a u bend in it after running through the longer pipes of the header. Thoughts and comments welcome.

If I understand what you want to do, it will be more trouble than it will be worth.

All of those additional bends and piping will just kill your efficiency, and besides that space is already at a premium back there. And you'd hafta come up with some crazy bracketry to support the weight of the turbo, as the pacesetter won't be strong enough to hold that weight.

You'll be best off selling the pacesetter header, and buying a manifold made for the turbo you want to use.

There are a few places that make them for the cavaliers, and you should be able to use that manifold as a starting point. Then you'll just hafta figure out the downpipe and charge tubes.

I believe you can get a log style mani for less than $200 still.

If you are serious about going turbo start doing some research at www.j-body.org look under the boost section the forums, you should be able to find more than you'd ever wanna know about boosting the 2.2 ecotec.

Your biggest problem is going to be the ECU. It should only be a matter of time until HPTuners shows you guys some love. After that the sky is the limit (so long as your pocketbook agrees, lol)
