well if you put a boost gauge in your car when its not boosted you will get no reading what so ever. so personally i would wait until you get the charger

Well, if it shows vacuum, it will still read that, just will stop at 0psi when hes at WOT. Good for measuring fuel economy. Used to be standard on old cars, for tuning reasons.

Look for any small vac line coming off the intake manifold, anything after the throttle body. Just cut it, insert the T, and attach your line to the gauge. Be sure everything seals correctly when it goes back together and you'll be fine. Good luck with the boost mission.

Sure, its just a manifold pressure gauge, if the car is in vacuum it will show that. If there is boost and the gauge has the range, it will show it. Vacuum becomes an issue for carb tuning, it is a great indicator of fuel economy, and it matters when you start to build up an engine radical cams can cause enough of a vacuum loss to cause problems with brake boosters and such.

the stock ss/sc boost gauge reads from the ecm which is why people have put the mechanical boost gauges in as they tend to me more accurate

You could use a stock SS/SC boost gauge, but it would be way too much work, many things would have to be changed. Just use a mechanical gauge tapped into a vac line somewhere, much easeier and probably more accurate.

It could. Just get an autometer that matches up close with the stock ones or something.
