ohhhh u said cams hah i thought u meant to turn the crank but ya i had to turn the ex cam a little bit to get it to line up and take the slack out of the chain. just triple check that everything is in time before u put the motor back in and roll the motor over from the crank pulley like 3-4 times to make sure nothing binds..if u feel anything bind then STOP and check it out cause if it does bind 9/10 times its a valve hitting the top of the piston and u will bend it

ok so i do have to turn it a little to get it lined up? that makes me feel better lol. I was scared if I did that it was going to snap the chain or something cuz the cam doesn't like to move very far and it goes back to where it was when you release the pressure on it.

i stayed out of boost for the first 300 or so and introduced it to about an easy 5psi low rpm until 500. i was told if you're running a boosted engine you should break it in on boost. nothing crazy but you want the rings to sit how they would under load on boost not na vac. not sure if it's true or not but it made sense to me.

yeah everyone has their own way i guess. i read on some site that you beat the **** out of it right away and some say 500 miles of easy. I saw somewhere that on newer engines if you go up a hill and let off going down and use the engine to slow it down that the rings well be good to go but idk this is my first time and I really don't wanna do it again lol

i'm with you on that. although i'm already thinking of getting a block and sleeving it. not sure if i want to make this an all out drag car or keeping it my dd. if i stay dd, not going over 350whp. if i track her i'm looking at maxing the s256 out @ 500hp on a sleeved block. tough decision.

2.2l block has ran 600chp w/ just rods and pistons on a built head. gm uses stock crank and rod bearings until that point also
im not saying to go out and try it. just saying that is the power levels i have always heard and ive been around and building 2.2 ecotecs since jbodys in 02-03

Jbody ecotecs seem to be much stronger than any of the ecotecs they put into Cobaltss. I know that seems like a stupid concept but it seems to be true with all the people that I know
